Thomas JONES (c1630-?)

and unknown (?-?)

Thomas Jones was my 9x Great Grandfather.  He may have married in about 1654, possibly to an Elizabeth.

Thomas Jones and unknown may have had the following children:

  1. John Joanes, my 8x Great Grandfather, was baptised on 2 March 1654/5 in Salehurst.  He married Mary Tyrrill in 1679.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Elizabeth Joanes was baptised on 22 November 1657 in Salehurst.  Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register.  Did she married Peter Sands on 3 January 1687/8 in Salehurst.

  3. Thomas Jones was baptised on 22 January 1659/60 in Salehurst.  Only his father's name was recorded in the baptism register.

  4. Daniel Jones was baptised on 22 June 1662 in Salehurst.  Only his father's name was recorded in the baptism register.  Did he married Mary Broun on 16 May 1695 in Westham, Sussex?  Daniel was then of Robertsbridge and Mary of Westham.

  5. Ann Joanes was baptised on 28th March 1665 in Salehurst.  Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register.  Did she marry Humphrey Mavery on 5 September 1686 in Battle, Sussex?  Ann was then of Salehurst.

The following were also the children of a Thomas Jones, but which, if either couple, were the parents of the above?

  1. Mary Jones was baptised on 28 April 1667 in Salehurst.  Both her parents were named in the baptism register, her mother being Mary.

  2. Sarah Jones was baptised on 26 May 1667 in Salehurst.  Both her parents were named in the baptism register, her mother being Elizabeth

  3. Thomas Joanes was baptised on 6 July 1673 in Salehurst.  Both his parents were named in the baptism register, his mother being Elizabeth.

  4. Mary Joanes was baptised on 8 March 1673/4 in Salehurst.  Both her parents were named in the baptism register, her mother being Mary.

  5. Hannah Joanes was baptised on 29 August 1680 in Salehurst.  Both her parents were named in the baptism register, her mother being Mary.

A Thomas Joanes married Mary Allen on 4 October 1664 in Battle.  Might they also have been the parents of Ann baptised in March 1665?

Given that Thomas's daughter named Elizabeth would seem to be his second child, could this imply that his wife was also named Elizabeth?
