Richard JENNINGS (1565-1649)

and Joan SMITH (c1570-?)

Richard Jennings and Joan Smith were my 10x Great Grandparents.  They married on 10 October 1598 in Reading, Berkshire.

Richard Jennings was baptised on 11 September 1565 in Beenham, Berkshire.  He was possibly the youngest son of John Jennings (c1530-1583) and Catherine (c1530-1585).  He may have been buried on 3 March 1648/9 in Beenham, although this burial may have been of his son Richard.  In 1620 he was a Church Warden of Beenham.

Joan Smith's date and place of birth are unknown.

Richard Jennings and Joan Smith had 4 known children:

  1. Richard Jennings was baptised on 20 October 1601 in Beenham and buried there on 22 October 1601.

  2. Elizabeth Jennings was baptised on 16 January 1602/3 in Beenham.

  3. Richard Jennings was baptised on 22 October 1606 in Beenham - he was my 9x Great Grandfather.  He married Joan.  (They have their own page.)

  4. John Jennings was baptised on 24 April 1610 in Beenham.

Might Joan have died soon after the birth of John in 1610, and might Richard have married an Elizabeth who was buried on 5 September 1627?
