John HOWELL (1755-1817)

and Elizabeth ERIDGE (c1755-?)

John Howell and Elizabeth Eridge married by banns on 21 April 1777 in Brighton, Sussex.  John was a bachelor and Elizabeth a spinster and they were both of Brighton.

John Howell may have been baptised on 17 August 1755 in Brighton, and have been the son of John Howell and Mary Tettersele.  He may have died aged 63 years at Black Lion Street in Brighton and have been buried on 16 September 1817 in Brighton.  However, a 64 year old John Howell was buried on 26 August 1821 in Brighton and it was recorded in the burial register that he was of George Street and was buried after a coroner's inquest.

Elizabeth Eridge's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

John Howell and Elizabeth Eridge had 9 known children:

  1. Elizabeth Howell was baptised on 30 January 1778 in Brighton.

  2. William Howell was baptised on 21 March 1779 in Brighton.

  3. Elizabeth Howell was baptised on 7 January 1781 in Brighton.

  4. Mary Howell was baptised on 14 April 1782 in Brighton.

  5. William Howell was baptised on 25 January 1784 in Brighton.

  6. John Howell was baptised on 3 June 1787 in Brighton.

  7. Thomas Howell was baptised on 3 June 1789 in Brighton.

  8. Elizabeth Howell was born on 22 June 1790 in Brighton.

  9. Elizabeth Howell was baptised on 30 June 1791 in Brighton.
