John HOLMAN (1718-1797)

and Sarah HARLAND (1731-1806)

 

John Holman and Sarah Harland married on 29 November 1753 in Slaugham, Sussex.  John had previously married Mary Chandler or Chantler on 24 November 1751 in Worth.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

John Holman was baptised on 25 January 1717/8 in Worth, Sussex.  (Or was he baptised on 24 June 1718 in Westmeston, Sussex?)  He was the son of William Holman (1686-?) and Ann possibly Ann Steining.  John was buried on 30 January 1797 in Worth.

Sarah Harland was baptised on 3 October 1731 in Worth, Sussex.  She was the daughter of John Harlin and Sarah Holman.  Sarah was buried on 28 September 1806.

 

John Holman and Sarah Harland had 8 known children: 

  1. Thomas Holman was baptised on 2 November 1755 in Worth.

  2. John Holman was baptised on 11 March 1759 in Worth.  He died aged 48 years and was buried on 10 July 1807.

  3. Sarah Holman was baptised on 14 September 1760 in Worth.

  4. Richard Holman was baptised on 8 May 1763 inWorth.  He married Amy Comber in 1785.  (They have their own page.)

  5. Joseph Holman was baptised on 7 July 1765 in Worth.

    Joseph married Mary Thorpe on 19 December 1792 in Fletching, Sussex.

    Mary may have been baptised on 20 October 1765 in Fletching and have been the daughter of William Thorpe (1740-1822) and Jane Baker (c1742-1802).

  6. Martha Holman was baptised on 24 May 1767 in Worth.

    Martha married Obediah Budgen on 8 October 1791 in Worth.  The witnesses to the marriage were John Prudence and Sarah Budgen.

    Obediah was baptised on 24 June 1764 in West Hoathly and was the son of William Budgen (1736-?) and Jane Mitchell.

  7. George Holman was baptised on 10 November 1771 in Worth.  He was buried on 19 March 1845.  As George Holdman he may have married Mary Taylor on 28 May 1792 in Isfield, Sussex.  He was then of Isfield and she of Litlington.

  8. Henry Holman was baptised on 28 November 1773 in Worth.  Henry married Ann Burr on 1 July 1811 in Edenbridge, Kent.
