The Will of
Jeremiah OLDER
(c1700-1767)

In the Name of God
Amen This Twenty Fourth day of July in the Seventh year of the Reign of Our
Sovreign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France
and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and And in the year of Our Lord One
Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Seven I
Jeremiah Older
of Billingshurst in the County of Sussex husbandman being sick in Body but
of good and perfect memory (for which I give most humble and hearty thanks
to Almighty God) do make Ordain and declare this my last Will and Testament
in manner and form following (that is to say) First and principally I
commend and commit my Soul to Almighty God my Creator trusting most
Assuredly to be saved by the death passion and only merits of Jesus Christ
my Saviour and Redeemer And my Body I commit to the the Earth to be decently
Intered in Christian Burial as my Executrix hereafter named shall order and
Appoint And as touching the disposition of all such Temporal Estate As it
hath please Almighty God to bestow upon me Too give and dispose thereof As
followeth And last I will that all my just debts be well and truly paid I
Give and bequeath to my sons Thomas Older and James Older and
to my Daughters Ann the wife of Thomas More ~ Elizabeth
Older ~ Sarah the wife of John Burchel and Olive Older
Twenty pounds Apiece of lawfull money of Great Britain to be respectively
paid unto them within two months next after my decease by my Executrix
hereinafter named All the Rest Residue and remainder of my monies Bonds
Bills Goods Chattles and real and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever
(After my funeral Expenses just Debts and Legacies hereinbefore bequeathed
are fully paid and discharged I Give and bequeath unto my loving wife Ann
Older Absolutely at her disposal And I do hereby constitute Appoint and
make my said loving wife Ann Older my sole Executrix of this my last
Will and Testament And I do hereby revoke disannul and make void All fomer
Wills and Testaments by me in [---] heretofore made [---] and confirming
this Only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal the Day and Year first above written
Jeremiah Older his mark and seal Signed sealed published and declared by
the said Jeremiah Older the Testator unto and for his last Will and
Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed out names as
witnesses to the Execution thereof in his presence William Joyes ~

This Will was
proved by virtue of A Special commission before Mr Francis Osgood
Clerk Surrogate & On the Twenty Fifth day of September In the Year of Our
Lord 1767 By the Oath of Ann Older widow and relect of the deced
and the Executrix named in his will to whom & well & truly sworn
saving....
