The Will of
Thomas HOADLEE
(1738-1823)

This is the last Will and Testament of me
Thomas Hoadlee of the parish of Henfield in the County of
Sussex Yeoman Whereas I have given my son James Hoadlee for his
advancement in Life the sum of Two hundred pounds Now I do hereby direct my
Executor hereinafter named should he find and Security or Securities for the
sum or any part thereof to deliver the same to my said son James Hoadlee
for his absolute use and benefit And I hereby give and bequeath unto my
Daughter Sarah the wife of John Kirk the Sum of One hundred
pounds sterling to be paid to her by my Executor hereinafter named within
three months next after my decease Also I give to my said Daughter Sarah
the Bed on which I sleep with the Bedstead and Furniture belonging thereto
to be delivered to her by my Executor immediately after my decease And as to
all the rest and residue of my personal Estate and Effects or what nature or
kind soever and wheresoever the same may be and of which I shall die
possessed I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof subject to the
payment of the aforesaid Legacy to my said Daughter unto my son Richard
Hoadlee his Executor Administrators and assigns for his and their
absolute use and benefit And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my
said son Richard Hoadlee sole Executor of this my Will hereby
revoking all former Wills by me made In Testimony whereof I the said
Thomas Hoadlee the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set
my hand and seal this second day of July in the Year of our Lord One
thousand eight hundred and twenty three The mark X and seal of Thomas
Hoadlee signed sealed published and declared by the said Thomas
Hoadlee the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the
presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of
each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses Wm
Borrer ~ C M Hannington Solr Henfield
The Will of Thomas Hoadlee late of Henfield
within the Archdeaconry of Lewes Yeoman deceased was proved the eighteenth
day of October in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and
twenty tree Before The Reverend George Proctor Clerk Surrogate and
so fourt Upon the Oath of Richard Hoadlee the sole Executor in the
said Will named To whom was committed the Administration of the Goods &c
He being first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and so
forth Sworn also that the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased
do not amount in Value unto Three hundred pounds
