The Will of
Sarah HOADLEE (1717-1793)

In the Name of God Amen I
Sarah Hoadlee of Southover in the County of Sussex
widow make this my last Will and testament in manor following that is to say
first I give to my niece Mary Curtis daughter of my late Brother
Abraham Curtis deceased the yearly sum of Ten pounds during her life to
be paid her by her Brother John Curtis whom I shall nominate and
appoint my Executor I likewise give unto Abraham Curtis son of
John Curtis Mary his wife the sum of One hundred pounds of lawful money
to be paid him at the age of twenty one years likewise I give unto Mary
Curtis daughter of John Curtis and Mary his wife the sum
of One hundred pounds of Lawful Money to be paid her at her age of twenty
one years I likewise give unto John Curtis son of John Curtis
and Mary his wife the sum of One hundred pounds of lawful money to be
paid him at the age of twenty one years and my Will Likewise is that the
Book debts and Bills that are in my keeping be outset in Sarah Lilliots
portion to pay my Nephew John Curtis for the care he has had of me and
my effects since Sarah Lilliott left me for I was Great Sufferer at
the time and after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid I give
bequests unto my Nephew John Curtis now living in the Cliff near
Lewes all goods monies credits and effects whatsoever and wheresoever making
him sole Executor of his my Last Will and Testament whereof I the said
Sarah Hoadlee have to this Six day of August in the year of our Lord One
thousand and Seven hundred and eighty three Sarah Hoadlee signed
sealed published and declared by the said Sarah Hoadlee asind for her
Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in presence of the said
Testatrix and at her request here set out names as witnesses thereof Edwd
Willett James Francombe Dudne
This Will was proved at London the thirtieth day of
October in the year of Our Lord One thousand and Seven hundred and Ninety
three before the worshipful John Kirkoll Doctor of Laws and Surrogate
of the Right honourable Sir William Wynne Knight of Doctor of Laws
Master Keeper of Commissary of the prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully
Constituted by the oath of John Curtis the Nephew of the deceased and
Sole Executor named in the said Will of the said deceased whom
administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and
Credits of the said deceased having been first sworn duly to administer
