He was then a bachelor and she a spinster. The witnesses to their marriage were
Thomas Knight

(Thomas may have been Richard’s half brother from his mother’s first
marriage to
Richard Knight.) After Hannah's
death, Richard married
Mary Smith
on 15 November 1814 in Henfield. Mary
was then a spinster of Stockton, Worcestershire and she was unable to sign
her name.

quarter to each of his children and a quarter divided between his 2
grandchildren Mary

and
William Gumbrell
(1820-?) who were then living in Billingshurst.
Hannah Snashall
