Richard Harland and Ann Juniper married on 4 April 1738 in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex.  Richard may have previously married Elizabeth Haslegrove on 18 December 1735 in Hurstpierpoint.  Did he also marry Mary Gatland on 13 April 1757 in Hurstpierpoint?

Richard Harland was baptised on 21 May 1711 in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex.  He was the son of Richard Harland and Margaret Skinner.

Ann Juniper's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Might she have been baptised on 7 October 1705 in Cowfold, Sussex, the daughter of Samuel Juniper and Mary Hale, or perhaps on 1 April 1711 in Cuckfield, Sussex, the daughter of Francis Juniper and Ann.

Richard Harland and Ann Juniper had 6 known children: 

1. Elizabeth Harland was baptised on 14 February 1737/8 in Hurstpierpoint.  She was buried on 17 January 1810 in Hurstpierpoint.

   Elizabeth married Henry Gander on 6 May 1762 in Hurstpierpoint.

   Henry was baptised on 19 September 1739 in Hurstpierpoint and was the son of William Gander and Elizabeth Harris.  He was buried on 9 November 1820 in Hurstpierpoint.

   Henry and Elizabeth had the following children:

   1. Elizabeth Gander was baptised on 28 November 1762 in Hurstpierpoint and probably died young.

   2. James Gander was baptised on 9 March 1764 in Hurstpierpoint.  He was buried on 10 July 1840 in Hurstpierpoint.

      James married Sarah Verrell on 4 April 1793 in Hurstpierpoint.

      Sarah was baptised on 19 May 1769 in Hurstpierpoint and was the daughter of Mary Verral.  She was buried on 16 October 1815 in Hurstpierpoint.

      James and Sarah had the following children:

      1. Gayney Gander was baptised on 28 February 1790 in Hurstpierpoint.

         As Gaynor (as per the Sussex marriage index) she married Henry Streton on 10 March 1812 in Hurstpierpoint.

      2. Lydia Gander was baptised on 4 September 1793 in Hurstpierpoint.

         Lydia married William Wickham on 12 October 1818 in Hurstpierpoint.

      3. Sarah Gander was baptised on 29 December 1797 in Hurstpierpoint.

      4. James Gander was baptised on 19 April 1808 in Hurstpierpoint.

   3. Henry Gander was baptised on 11 August 1765 in Hurstpierpoint.

      Henry married Tabitha Batchelor by banns on 8 April 1788 in Shermanbury.  He was then of Twineham and she of Shermanbury.

      Tabitha was baptised on 24 November 1765 in Twineham, Sussex and was the daughter of Richard Batchelor (c1740-1818) and Ann Penfold (1741-1811).

      Henry and Tabitha had the following children:

      1. James Gander was baptised on 12 October 1788 in Twineham.

      2. Ann Gander was baptised on 21 September 1790 in Twineham.

      3. John Gander was baptised on 30 November 1794 in Hurstpierpoint.  He died in 1864.

      4. Thomas Gander was baptised on 6 November 1796 in Hurstpierpoint.  He died in 1892.

      5. Henry Gander was baptised on 10 June 1798 in Hurstpierpoint.

      6. Elizabeth Gander was born on 2 April 1800 and baptised on 11 May 1800 in Hurstpierpoint.  She died in 1839.

      7. William Gander was born on 7 June 1802 and baptised on 11 July 1802 in Hurstpierpoint.

      8. Jane Gander was born on 28 March 1804 and baptised on 6 May 1804 in Hurstpierpoint.

      9. Francis Gander was baptised on 16 August 1807 in Hurstpierpoint.  He died in 1864.

   4. Ann Gander was baptised on 24 May 1767 in Hurstpierpoint.

   5. Martha Gander was baptised on 19 September 1768 in Hurstpierpoint.

   6. William Gander was baptised on 5 March 1770 in Hurstpierpoint.

   7. Lydia Gander was baptised on 9 August 1775 in Hurstpierpoint.  She died aged 77 years and was buried on 6 October 1852 in Cowfold.  The burial register noted that Lydia Steele was from Lower Beeding.

      Lydia married Edward Steele by licence on 27 October 1801 in Cowfold.  He was then a widower and she a spinster.  The witnesses to their marriage were Mary Heasman, Lydia Gander and James Gander.  Edward had previously married Elizabeth Shaw on 19 June 1796 in Cowfold.  The witnesses to their marriage were Elizabeth Comber and James Comber.  As Bet Steele, wife of Edward, she was buried on 20 February 1798 in Cowfold.

      Edward was baptised on 1 June 1769 in Nuthurst, Sussex and was the son of Thomas Steele and Mary Gander.  He died aged 90 years in Lower Beeding and was buried on 8 December 1859 in Cowfold.

      Edward and Lydia had the following children:

      1. Elizabeth Steele was baptised on 21 July 1804 in Cowfold.

      2. Sophie Steele was baptised on 19 March 1806 in Cowfold.

      3. Edward Steele was baptised on 28 December 1807 in Cowfold.

      4. Sarah Steele was baptised on 6 May 1810 in Cowfold.

         Sarah married Thomas Pooley by banns on 13 November 1845 in Cowfold.  He was a widower and carpenter and she a spinster.  Their fathers were named as Peter Pooley a labourer and Edward Steele.  The witnesses to their marriage were Henry Vinall and Rebecca Steele.

      5. Thomas Steele was baptised on 11 February 1811 in Cowfold.

      6. Thomas Steele was baptised on 13 April 1812 in Cowfold.

      7. Lydia Steele was baptised on 9 July 1815 in Cowfold.  The baptism register noted that her father was a farmer.  She died aged 13 years and was buried on 3 May 1828 in Cowfold.

      8. Rebecca Steele was baptised on 10 August 1817 in Cowfold.  The baptism register noted that her father was a farmer.

         Rebecca married Henry Pooley by banns on 27 November 1851 in Cowfold.  He was a bachelor and shoemaker and she a spinster.  Their fathers were named as Peter Pooley and Edward Steele who were both farmers.  The witnesses to their marriage were Thomas Pooley and Sarah Pooley.

   8. Elizabeth Gander was baptised on 6 September 1778 in Hurstpierpoint.

   9. David Gander was baptised on 21 November 1779 in Albourne.

2. Richard Harland was baptised on 17 October 1740 in Hurstpierpoint.

3. Ann Harland was baptised on 20 January 1742/3 in Hurstpierpoint.

4. Thomas Harland was baptised on 2 February 1744/5 in Hurstpierpoint.

5. Sarah Harland was baptised on 4 December 1748 in Hurstpierpoint.

   Did she marry Richard Sylverson on 7 April 1776 or William Currenden on 15 April 1777?  Both marriages took place in Hurstpierpoint.

6. Abigail Harland was baptised on 18 November 1750 in Hurstpierpoint.

   Abigail married James Fairall on 17 November 1774 in Hurstpierpoint.

   As widower, James may have married Mary Hardham by banns on 29 June 1781 in Cuckfield.

   James and Abigail had the following child:

   1. James Fairall was baptised on 11 September 1777 in Hurstpierpoint.
