Edward HARDS (1719-1785)
and Elizabeth (c1720-?)

Edward Hards
and Elizabeth were my 7x Great Grandparents. (Click
here
to see their place in my pedigree chart.) They may have
married sometime before or about 1742. An Edward Harde
married Grace Andrews on 24 April 1739 at the Fleet Prison,
London. Edward was a bachelor and husbandman and Grace was a spinster,
and they were both of Slaugham.
Edward Hards
was baptised on 6 June 1719 in Slaugham, Sussex. He was the son of
Matthew Hards and Jane Lullingden. He died aged 76 years
and was buried on 27 February 1785 in Crawley, Sussex.
Elizabeth's
date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
A settlement
certificate was issued on 4 February 1742 by the overseers of Slaugham parish to Worth, in
respect of Edward Hards and Elizabeth.
Edward Hards and
Elizabeth had 5 known children:
-
Edward Hards was baptised on 26 June 1743 in Worth, Sussex.
He may have been buried on 25 March 1770 in Crawley. The burial
register records that he was Edward Hards, junior from Ifield,
Sussex.
Edward may have married twice, firstly to Mary Boorer
by licence on 28 December 1768 in Ifield. He was then a bachelor and
she a spinster and they were both of Ifield. He may then have
married Sarah Walls on 29 September 1772 in Ifield.
-
Sarah Hards was baptised on 9 December 1745 in Worth. Sarah
married William Sanders by licence on 13 Febraury 1765 in Worth.
She was then a spinster and married with the consent on Edward Hards.
William was a bachelor and they were both Worth.
-
William Hards was baptised on 31 May 1748 in Crawley, Sussex and
buried there as an infant on 15 July 1749.
-
Elizabeth Hards, my 6x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 27 January 1749/50 in Crawley. She married
James
Streeter in 1770. (They have their own page.)
-
Thomas Hards was baptised on 21 April 1752 in Crawley. Thomas
married Mary Penfold by banns on 28 April 1774 in Slaugham, Sussex.
They were both the of Slaugham.
