Daniel GUMBREL (1714-1791)

and Elizabeth BURCHETT (?-1747)

and Alice (?-1767)

Daniel Gumbrel and Elizabeth Burchett married on 5 February 1740/1 in Kirdford, Sussex.  He then married Alice sometime before or about 1754.  No marriage has been found for them in the Sussex marriage index.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Daniel Gumbrel was baptised on 17 November 1714 in Billingshurst, Sussex.  He was the son of Daniel Gumbril (?-1743) and Mary Nightingale (?-1742).  Daniel was buried on 19 October 1791 in Billingshurst, as Daniel Gumbrill, pauper.

Elizabeth Burchett's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was probably buried on 20 August 1747 in Billingshurst.

Alice was buried on 1 May 1767 in Billingshurst.  The burial register noted that she was the wife of Daniel Gumbril.

A removal order was issued on 11 April 1743, removing Daniel and his wife Elizabeth from Chiltington to Billingshurst.

Daniel Gumbrel and Elizabeth Burchett had 1 known child:

  1. Elizabeth Gumbril was baptised on 26 February 1744 in Billingshurst and buried there on 18 June 1746.  The burial register noted that she was the daughter of Daniel Gumbril.

Daniel Gumbrel and Alice had 4 known children:

  1. Daniel Gumbril was baptised on 26 May 1754 in Billingshurst.  He married Mary Greenfield in 1782.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Thomas Gumbril was baptised on 24 May 1756 in Billingshurst and buried there as an infant on 8 June 1756.

  3. Alice Gumbril was baptised on 16 July 1758 in Billingshurst.

    Alice had the following child:

    1. Benjamin Greenfield Gumbrel was baptised on 20 February 1789 in Billingshurst.

  4. Abigail Gumbril was baptised on 10 June 1764 in Billingshurst.

Abigail married Benjamin Netley by banns on 26 September 1782 in Pulborough, Sussex.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Pulborough.  The witnesses to their marriage were Nicholas Warner and Daniel Searle.
