Walter GEALE (1626-1694)

and Tamsin SALTER (1624-?)

 

Walter Geale and Tamsin Salter married on 17 May 1650 in Findon, Sussex.

Water Geale was baptised on 29 January 1625/6 in Findon.  He was the eldest son of Walter Geale (1602-1654) and Elizabeth Peckham (1594-1648).  He was buried on 31 December 1694 in Findon.

Thamassen Salter was baptised on 18 April 1624 in Cuckfield.  She was the daughter of Stephen Salter.

A Probate Inventory was made in 1694 in respect of the estate of Walter Geale, married to Tamsin.  The total of his chatells and goods (excluding property) was valued at 316.  The inventory included cows, bullocks, pigs and a lot of wheat, etc, in the brewhouse.

 

Walter Geale and Tamsin Salter had 4 known children:

  1. Jane Geale was baptised on 31 July 1651 in Findon and it was noted in the baptism register that her father was Walter Geale the younger.  She probably died as an infant.

  2. Walter Geale was baptised on 21 August 1653 in Findon.  He was buried in Findon on 6 May 1705.

    Walter married Theodosia.

    Theodosia was buried in Findon in 1724.  She left a will and her estate was valued at 364.  She left legacies to her 3 daughters, Elizabeth, Mary and Abigale, and her grand-daughter and grandson.  The bulk of her property passed to her son John

    They had the following children:

    1. Elizabeth Geale was baptised on 29 March 1677 in Findon.  She may have married Thomas Holingham on 2 October 1694 in Findon.

    2. Mary Geale was baptised on 12 October 1679 in Findon.  She may have married Thomas Elliott on 1 October 1700 in Findon.  At the time they were both said to be of Findon.

    3. John Geale was baptised on 17 October 1682 in Findon.

      As John Guile he may have married Sarah Goble on 15 November 1720 in Angmering.

      Did they have the following child:

      1. John Guile was baptised on 27 October 1721 in Angmering.  He may have been buried there on 1 July 1777.

      2. Sarah Guile was baptised on 5 June 1724 in Angmering.  Before her marriage she had an illegitimate son:

        1. William Guile was baptised on 5 September 1747 in Angmering.

        Sarah married William Edwards by licence on 10 January 1749/50 in Tortington, Sussex.  Their marriage licence was issued on 1 January 1749/50 by the Archdeaconry of Chichester.  It recorded that she was a spinster of Angmering and he a bachelor of Arundel.

      3. George Guile was baptised on 11 November 1726 in Angmering.

      4. Thomas Guile was baptised on 15 January 1731 in Angmering and buried there on 24 January 1731.

      5. William Guile was baptised on 15 January 1731 in Angmering and buried there on 30 April 1731.

    4. Abigale Geale was baptised on 27 July 1684 in Findon.

    5. Walter Geale was baptised on 11 December 1686 in Findon.  He may have married Mary Reason by licence on 1 October 1728 at Wiggonholt, Sussex.  At the time they were both of Findon.  Their marriage licence was issued on the same day recorded that the sponsors of the licence were Walter himself and Thomas Reason of Burpham.

    6. Thomas Geale was baptised on 18 December 1688 in Findon.

    7. Theodosia Geale was baptised on 29 November 1693 in Findon.

  3. Elizabeth Geale was baptised on 8 June 1656 in Findon.  She may have married Richard Woolvin on 3 July 1683 in Findon.

  4. Jane Geele was baptised on 28 July 1661 in Findon.  She was buried in Findon in 1662.

 

Henry Guile may have been buried on 24 October 1753 in Angmering.  He had the following child:

  1. William Guile was baptised on 19 July 1723 in Angmering.

 

Thomas Gille was buried on 17 October 1695 in Angmering.

Elizabeth Guile was buried on 13 Janaury 1732 in Angmering.

Thomas Guile was buried on 29 September 1770 in Angmering.
