whilst Elizabeth was a spinster of Newtimber. The sponsors of the
licence were Walter himself and William Peckham a
husbandman of Newtimber and father of Elizabeth. Might Walter have
previously married Mary Hill in December 1623 in Shipley,
Sussex? Walter then married again sometime between 1648 and 1651,
possibly to Margaret.
Water Geale was baptised on 28 June 1602 in Cuckfield.
The baptism register recorded that his father was
John Geale the elder.
Walter was buried on 24 March 1653/4 in Findon.
Elizabeth Pickham was baptised in September 1594 in
Newtimber. She was the daughter of William Pickham.
Elizabeth was buried on 27 November 1648 in Findon.
The 1662 Hearth Tax Assessment records that a Margaret Gille,
