George GOBLE (c1720-?)

and Elizabeth PARKER (?-?)

George Goble and Elizabeth Parker married by banns on 28 December 1745 at St. Peter the Great, Chichester, Sussex, at which time they were both residents of the parish.

George Gobleís date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  But according to the IGI he was born about 1720.

Elizabeth Parkerís date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  And again, according the IGI she was born about 1724.  She may have been buried on 19 April 1784 in Bosham where the fee for her burial was paid.  However, the burial entry only records her name and the burial may refer to the infant Elizabeth Goble who was baptised on 20 November 1783 in Bosham, daughter of George Goble and Judith.

George Goble and Elizabeth Parker had 3 known children and possibly more:

  1.  John Goble was baptised on 27 August 1749 at St. Peter the Great, Chichester.  He probably died as an infant.

  2. John Goble was baptised on 22 March 1751/2 at Chichester.

  3. Elizabeth Goble was baptised on 1 December 1755 in South Bersted, Sussex.

A George Goble was baptised on 10 October 1749 at St. Peter the Less, Chichester as the son of George Goble and Mary.  George, husband of Mary, was born about 1717, according to the IGI.

Was the following a son of George and Mary or George and Elizabeth:

George Goble married Judith Allcock by licence on 11 February 1777 in Bosham, Sussex.  At the time of their marriage George was a bachelor of Bersted, Sussex and Judith a widow of Bosham.  They were both able to sign their names.  The witnesses were John Pesket and Edmund ?idlington, who also both signed their names.  Judith died aged 67 years and was buried on 26 May 1817 in Bosham.  I have not found a burial for George in Bosham.  George and Judith had 7 known children:  George Goble (1779-?), Elizabeth Goble (1783-?), Martha Goble (1785-?), Henry Young Goble (1787-?), Edward Hart Goble (1789-?), James Knight Goble (1791-?) and George Goble (1793-?).
