Unknown GADSBY (c1700-?)

 

My 5x Great Grandmother was born in about 1737, but who were her parents?

 

Unknown Gadsby may have had the following children:

  1. Ann Gadsby married Thomas Burgess on 20 April 1742 at St. Michael's in Lewes, Sussex.

  2. Susan Gadsby married Robert Woodhame by Licence on 12 January 1742/3 in Withyham, Sussex.  She was then of Ringmer, Sussex.

  3. Elizabeth Gadsby married William Tippens on 29 September 1746 in Ringmer.

  4. Sarah Gadsby married Thomas Cottington by Banns on 14 December 1750 in Framfield, Sussex.  They were both then of Framfield.

  5. Edward Gadsby was born about 1730 and died before 1787.  He was baptised aged 20 years on 2 December 1750 in Ringmer, Sussex.  The names of his parents were not recorded against his baptism.  He married Mary Boniface by Banns on 24 December 1768 in Brighton.  They were both then of Brighton, but the marriage register records that Edward was formerly of Ringmer.  As a Widow Mary Gadsby married Henry Michell by Licence on 12 November 1787 in Brighton.  He was then a Bachelor and they were both of Brighton.

  6. John Gadsby was born about 1731.  He was baptised aged 17 years on 15 January 1748/9 in Rinmger.  The names of his parents were not recorded against his baptism.

  7. Lucy Gadsby, my 5x Great Grandmother, was born about 1737.  She was baptised aged 16 years on 24 April 1753 in Ringmer.  The names of her parents were not recorded against her baptism.  She married Charles French in 1764.  (They have their own page.)

  8. William Gadsby was baptised on 10 June 1762 in Ringmer.  The names of his parents were not recorded against his baptism.  He may have married Elizabeth Boniface on 12 January 1764 in Upper Beeding, Sussex.  William and Elizabeth had 6 known children:

    1. John Gadsby was baptised on 7 July 1765 in Upper Beeding.

    2. William Gadsby was baptised on 16 October 1767 in Upper Beeding.

    3. George Gadsby was baptised on 3 November 1770 in Upper Beeding.

    4. Sarah Gadsby was baptised on 31 May 1773 in Upper Beeding.

    5. Mary Gadsby was baptised on 24 March 1776 in Old Shoreham, Sussex.  She was buried on 3 January 1803 in Portslade, Sussex.  Mary married Samual Godsmark on 15 May 1799 in Kingston near Lewes in Sussex.  She was then a Spinster and he a Bachelor of Portslade.

    6. Susannah Gadsby was baptised on 19 June 1779 in Upper Beeding.

 

An Elizabeth Gadsby was buried in Ringmer on 14 February 1775.

A Lucy Gadsby was buried on 22 March 1812 in Kingston, near Lewes. Sussex.
