Edward GADSBY (1678-1770)

and Eleanor YOUNG (1684-1758)

 

Edward Gadsby and Eleanor Young married by licence on 22 June 1710 at All Saints in Lewes, Sussex.  They were both then said to be of Westerham in Kent and Edward was a husbandman.  Their marriage licence was issued on 22 June 1710 by the Archdeaconry of Lewes.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Edward Gadsby was probably baptised on 17 March 1677/8 in Little Horsted, Sussex, the son of Edward Gadsby (c1650-1718) and Joan (c1650-1728).  He was buried on 2 July 1770 in Rotherfield and the burial register noted that he was very old.

Ellenor Young was baptised on 13 April 1684 in Rotherfield, Sussex.  She was the daughter of Harbert Young and Eleanor Levett.  She was buried on 11 March 1758 in Rotherfield and the burial register noted that she was the wife of Edward Gadsby.

 

Edward Gadsby and Eleanor Young had 2 known children:

  1. Eleanora Gadsby was baptised on 11 October 1710 in Rotherfield.

    Eleanor married James Damper on 10 September 1730 in Rotherfield.

  2. Elizabeth Gadsby was baptised on 11 February 1718/9 in Rotherfield.  She was buried there on 1 September 1801.

    Elizabeth married Edward Taylor on 4 April 1741 in Rotherfield.

    Edward and Elizabeth had 4 known children:

    1. Mary Taylor was baptised on 15 September 1743 in Rotherfield.

    2. Elizabeth Taylor was baptised on 26 January 1744/5 in Rotherfield.

    3. Ann Taylor was baptised on 30 July 1749 in Rotherfield.

    4. Edward Taylor was baptised on 25 February 1753 in Rotherfield.  He was buried there on 2 March 1831.

      Edward married Anne Wickins on 9 April 1782 in Rotherfield.

      Anne was baptised on 16 July 1761 in Rotherfield and was the daughter of Joseph Wickens and Elizabeth Downard.
