The Will of
Thomas FRENCH
(c1570-1634)

In the name of God Amen I Thomas Frenche of Dallington in
the County of Sussex yeomon beinge sicke of body but thanks be to god of
good and perfect rememberance doo make and ordayne this my last will and
testament the first day of November in the yeare of our Lord God One
Thousand Six hundred and Thirty and foure in manner and forme and of first
following of --- I will and bequeath my soule unto Almighty god my maker and
redeemer and my body to be buried in the Church yard of Dallington First I
give unto the poore of the parish wherein I dwell Six Shillings and eight
pence to be paid at my buriall Item I give unto my daughter
Elizabeth the wife of Bartholomew Jeffry twenty
pound to be payd to her within One yeare after my decease Item I
give unto William W--on that marryed my daughter
Constance which is to be payed to him upon a bond which I made him
Thirty pound to be payde to him within fifty dayes Item I give unto
Joane Elficke my daughter twenty pound to be payde unto her
within one yeare after my decease Item I give unto
Elizabeth Elicke the daughter of the said Joan Elficke
thirty pound to be payde to her within forty days after the decease of my
wife Elizabeth Item I give unto Elizabeth
my daughter the wife of Bartholomew Jeffry tenn pound to be
payde to her within forty days after the decease of my wife
Elizabeth Item I give unto my sonne in law William
Wimble that married my daughter Ann all my goods
and chattells and all my househould stuff to him the saide William
Wimble whome I make the whole executor of this my last will and
testament and I de--- William Star of Boram, and
John Thomas of Ashburnham to bee Overseers of this my last will and
testament more over I give unto Elizabeth Wimble twenty
shillings to be paid to her witin one yeare after my decease Item I
give unto Elizabeth -aron twenty shillings to be payde to
her within one yeare after my decease In witness whereof I have hereunto
sett my hand and seale the day and yeare above written Thomas
Frenche his marke X sealled in the presence of Robert -aire-,
Edmund Glover, Bartholomew Jeffry,
William Wilken
His will was proved in London on 14 November 1634.
