John FRENCH
(1693-1771)
and Ann BRAND (1700-1774)

John French
and
Ann Brand
may have been my 7x Great Grandparents.

They married on 20 April 1721 in Bodiam, Sussex. They were both then
of Warbleton, Sussex. Her surname was then recorded as Brann.
John French
was baptised on 15 January 1692/3 in Warbleton. He was the son of
Samuel French
(1665-1747) and Mary
Baldock (c1670-1712). He was buried on 5 September 1771 in
Warbleton.
Ann Brand
was baptised on 14 April 1700 in Salehurst, Sussex. She was the
daughter of Richard Brand and Alice Baker. Ann was
buried in Warbleton on 22 September 1774 as widow French.
John French and
Ann Brand had 10 known children:

Sarah
French, my possible 6x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 25
February 1721/2 in Warbleton. She may have married
Thomas
Bourne in 1744. (They have their own page.)

Mary French
was baptised on 28 July 1723 in Warbleton.

Samuel French
was baptised on 17 October 1725 in Warbleton. He died in 1807.
Samuel married
Sarah Tutt by banns on 31 August 1761 in Willingdon, Sussex.
They were both then of Willingdon. The witnesses to the marriage
were John Alwork and George Markwick.
Sarah was baptised on 19 June 1736 in Warbleton and was the daughter of
John Tutt (1697-?) and
Elizabeth Baker.
Samuel and Sarah had 6 known children:

John French
was baptised on 24 December 1761 in Willmingdon. He died aged 84
years on 1 June 1844 in Wartling. John married Mary Gasden by
banns on 2 November 1786 in Herstmonceux, Sussex. He was then of
Wartling and she of Herstmonceux. Mary was baptised on 17 November
1763 in East Dean, East Sussex and was the daughter of John Gosden
and Mary Clarke. Mary died in 1837.

John French
was baptised on 1 January 1727/8 in Warbleton and buried there on 29
December 1743. It was noted in the burial register that he was the
son of John and Ann French.

Thomas French
was baptised on 27 January 1729/30 in Warbleton.
Thomas married Lydia Balbranks by banns on 25 December
1758 in Bexhill, Sussex. He was then a bachelor of Etchingham and
she was a spinster of Bexhill. (There was another Thomas
French baptised on 28 July 1734 in Salehurst, the son of
Robert French and Mary.)
Thomas and Lydia had the following children:

French was baptised on 4 October 1772 in Etchingham.

was baptised on 16 April 1732 in Warbleton.

was baptised on 1 January 1734/5 in Warbleton and buried there on 13 July
1768. It was noted in the burial register that he was the son of
John and Ann French.

Henry French
was baptised on 13 November 1737 in Warbleton and buried there on 6
September 1765. It was noted in the burial register that he was
the son of John and Ann French.

George French
was baptised on 30 March 1740 in Warbleton and buried there on 31 July
1762. It was noted in the burial register that he was the son of
John and Ann French.
