John FRENCH (c1530-1590)

and Joane (?-?)

 

John French married Joane

John French was the son of John French (c1510-1588).  He was of Streame in Chiddingly.  John died in 1590 in Chiddingly, Sussex.  His will was dated 4 March 1583 and proved on 30 April 1590 (ref Lewes A8, 356).

Joane's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

 

John French and Joane had 6 known children:

  1. Stephen French married Barbara Fowle in 1579.  (They have their own page.)

  2. John French was named in his father's 1583 will.

  3. Thomas French was named in his father's will.  His will was proved on 2 February 1631/2 (ref Lewes A28, 142, PROB 11/161).  He married Agnes.  They had the following son:

    1. Stephen French was an executor of his father's will.  He was named in his cousin John French's will of 1630.

  4. Andrew French was named in his father's will.  He married and had the following known son:

    1. John French was named in his cousin John French's will of 1630.

  5. A daughter married Thomas Edolph who was an overseer of his father-in-law's will.

  6. A daughter married Thomas Salter was an on overseer of his father-in-law's will.

    One of the daughters was named Martha French.
