Anthony Fowle and Margery Shurlock married on 4 October 1553 in Rotherfield, Sussex.

Anthony Fowle was of Rotherfield.  He was the son of William Fowle (c1500-1566) and Margarett Godyne.  He was mentioned in his father's will of 1560 and was appointed a joint executor, along with his brother Nicholas.  Anthony left a verbal will dated 12 June 1567, at which time he called himself a yeoman.

Margery Shurlock was the daughter and heir of Richard Shurlock of Shurlock in Withyham, Sussex.  As a widow she married Arthur Middleton, an ironmaster on 6 June 1569 in Rotherfield.

Anthony Fowle and Margery Shurlock had the following children:

1. Mary Fowle was baptised on 18 December 1555 in Rotherfield.  She married John Govey.  She was mentioned in her grandfather's will of 1560 and that of her father.

2. Barbara Fowle married Stephen French.  (They have their own page.)

3. Hellen Fowle was mentioned in her father's will.  She married Walter Everenden on 19 January 1578/9 in Rotherfield.

4. Elizabeth Fowle was mentioned in her father's will.  She married twice, firstly to Thomas Hayes on 18 September 1582 in Rotherfield and then to George Michellborne.

5. Frances Fowle was baptised on 2 February 1565/6 in Rotherfield.  She married John Midleton of Horsham, Sussex.

6. Anthony Fowle was baptised on 1 December 1567 in Rotherfield, after his father's death.  He was a Justice of the Peace in Rotherfield.

   Anthony married three times, firstly to Margarett Widnall the second daughter of William Widnall of Tandridge in Surrey and Mary the daughter of Thomas Engler of Reigate, Surrey.  Anthony then married Elizabeth Austin the daughter and co heir of William Austen of Twisden in Goudhurst, Kent.  Finally he married Elizabeth Porter the daughter of Richard Porter of Beyham.

   Anthony and Margaret had the following child:

   1. Nicholas Fowle was baptised on 31 January 1593/4 in Rotherfield.  He was of Warbleton and Captaine of the Rape of Hastings.  He married Judith Consort the widow of Thomas Consort and daughter of [blank] Coxe, by licence dated 25 July 1618.

   Anthony and his second wife, Elizabeth had the following children:

   2. Augustin Fowle or Austin Fowle was buried on 27 May 1621 in Rotherfield.

   4. Anthony Fowle was baptised on 1 December 1602 in Rotherfield.  He was a barrister of Grays Inn.

   5. Mary Fowle married Allexander Fermor of Walsh on 12 June 1617 in Rotherfield.

   Anthony and Elizabeth had the following children:

   6. Anne Fowle was baptised on 4 March 1606/7 in Rotherfield.  She married twice, firstly to John Cooper Penkhurst a gentleman of Mayfield on 22 October 1626 in Rotherfield and then to Robert Baker, gentleman on 20 February 1632/2 in Rotherfield.

   7. John Fowle was baptised on 22 March 1607/8 in Rotherfield.  He was buried on 9 April 1626 in Rotherfield.

   8. Jane Fowle was baptised on 5 August 1610 in Rotherfield.  She married William Wyvill by licence on 23 December 1636 in Rotherfield.  He was of Osgodley in Yorkshirse.

   9. William Fowle was baptised on 27 September 1612 in Rotherfield

   10. Richard Fowle was baptised on 31 August 1615 in Rotherfield.  He married Martha Caldicot by licence dated 9 December 1640.  She was of East Grinstead.  Richard was then a gentleman of Newick, Sussex.

   11. Christopher Fowle was baptised on 5 September 1616 in Rotherfield.  He was a fellow of Merton College, Oxford.

   12. William Fowle was baptised on 30 March 1619 in Rotherfield.

   13. Samuel Fowle was baptised on 10 October 1624 in Rotherfield.
