James Field was born about 1820. He died aged 86
years and was buried on 6 January 1906 in Cuckfield.
Michael Field was born about 1758. He dided aged 75 years and was buried
on 1 July 1833 in Cuckfield.
Michael Field was born about 1771. He died aged 55 years and was buried
on 3 December 1826 in Cuckfield.
Michael Field was born about 1797. He died aged 31 years and was buried
on 26 February 1828 in Cuckfield.

John Field and Ann Wales married by banns
on 20 March 1805 in Balcombe, Sussex. He was from Cuckfield and she of
Balcombe.
John and Ann had the following:

John Field was baptised on 10 August 1806 in Cuckfield.
John married Susanna Ede by banns on 18 February 1828
in Brighton. He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were
both of Brighton.
Susan was baptised on 20 March 1808 in Cuckfield, the daughter of
John Ede and Mary Cage. She
died aged 37 years and was buried on 24 April 1844 in Cuckfield.
At the time of the 1841 census the couple were living at Cut Hedges in
Cuckfield. John was a 37 year old labourer and Susan was 33.
Also at home on census night were 7 children (John, Thomas, Mary,
William, Henry, Emily and Marther).
John and Susan had the following children:

years old in 1841.

Mary Field was born about 1833. She was 8
years old in 1841.

At the time of the 1841 census she was a year old. She was an
11 year old scholar in 1851.

He was a 9 year old scholar in 1851.
As a widower John married Jane Starley, widow, by banns
on 6 April 1850 in Bolney. He was a carrier from Cuckfield and she
a tenant of the Glebe. Their father were named as John
Field and John Packham who were both
labourers. The witnesses to their marriage were John
Parsons and Mary Parsons.
The 1851 census recorded that John and Jane were living in Hubbards
House, Bolney. He was then a 45 year old farmer of 21 acres
employing 3 labourers and she was 50. He gave his place of birth
as Cuckfield and she as Twinham. Also with them were 18 year old
son-in-law Amos Starley who was an agricultural
labourer, 11 year old Martha Field, 9
year old Ruth Starley, 9 year old Edward Field
who were all scholars and 18 year old servant William Packham.

Elizabeth Field was baptised on 12 November 1809 in
Cuckfield.

Mary Field was baptised on 1 March 1812 in Cuckfield.

Jane Field was baptised on 8 September 1816 in
Cuckfield.

Martha Field was baptised on 15 November 1818 in
Cuckfield.

Amelia Field was baptised on 29 February 1824 in
Cuckfield.
Thomas Field and Barbara Penfold married
on 8 October 1815 in Cuckfield, Sussex. The witnesses to their
marriage were John Penfold and Mary Ann Norris.
Barbara Field widow married widower John Stoner on
10 December 1823 in Cuckfield.
Thomas Field died aged 32 years and was buried on 25
January 1822 in Cuckfield, therefore, born about 1790. Might he have
been baptised on 31 August 1788 in Cuckfield and have been the son of
James Field and Mary Ede?
Barbara Penfold was baptised on 19 September 1790 in
Cuckfield and was the daughter of John Penfold and
Ann Williams.

John married Sarah.
When the 1841 census was recorded the couple and 2 children (Allin and
Mary) were living with 52 year old Barbara Stoner in
Cuckfield. John and Sarah were both said to be 23 years old and he
was a labourer. Also part of the household was 18 year old
Friend Field who was also a labourer.
John and Sarah had the following children:

year old in 1841.
