Edward FAULCONER
(c1540-1588)
and unknown (?-?)

Edward Faulconer was my 11x Great Grandfather. (Click
here
to see his place in my pedigree chart.) He was the son
of William
Faulconer (c1520-1558) and Anne (c1520-1560). He was
appointed executor to his father's will of 1558 and inherited from him
Rowhill and Heggeland. Edward was a yeoman of Balcombe, Sussex.
He was buried on 28 January 1587/8 in Balcombe. His will was dated 4
January 1587/8 and proved on 16 March 1587/8 (Lewes A8 180). He nominated
George Alfraye and [--?--] Wildman as overseers of his will.
His wife was alive when he made his will and she received a third of all
freeholds and copyhold known as Rowhill, unfortunately he did not mention
her by name. Edward also left a legacy of 2 ewe lambs to his God
daughter Joane Courtuppe
Edward Faulconer and
unknown had 10 known children:

John Faulconer married Susan
before or about 1589. (They have their
own page.)

Joane Faulconer was baptised on 5 November 1561 in Balcombe.
She was mentioned in her father's will, by which she was to receive a "heigfour
bullocke". She was executor to her husband's
will. Joane was buried on 9 July 1628 in Cuckfield.
Joane
married Nicholas Burt of Cleavers, Cuckfield on 8 May 1580 in
Balcombe.
Nicholas was baptised on 2 December 1549 in Balcombe and
buried on 30 May 1620 in Cuckfield. His will was dated 20 May and
proved on 20 June 1620 (Lewes A17 110).
Nicholas and Joane had the following children:

Nicholas Burt was mentioned in his maternal grandfather's will, by
which he was to receive a legacy of a ewe lamb.

Ann Burt was mentioned in his maternal grandfather's will, by which
she was to receive a legacy of a ewe lamb.

William Burt was mentioned in his maternal grandfather's will, by
which he was to receive a legacy of a ewe lamb.

Henry Faulconer,
my 10x Great Grandfather, was baptised on 6 May 1566 in Balcombe. He
married Joan
Brett in 1588. (They have their own page.)

Thomas Faulconer was a yeoman of East Grinstead. He was
mentioned in his father's will, by which he was to receive a legacy of 50
pounds in two years. He was granted administration of his
cousin,
Richard Faulconer of Ripe's estate in 1646. His own
will was dated 6 December 1650 and proved on 11 February 1651/2 (PCC 28
Bowyer). In his will he mentions the 4 eldest daughters of Thomas
Fuller, blacksmith of Lindfield, Sussex and cousin John Worth
of Hurst.

Bridget Faulconer was baptised on 23 December 1572 in Balcombe and
buried there on 16 February 1574/5.

Edward Faulconer was baptised on 11 April 1576 in Balcombe.
He was of Rowhill and Denman's in Cuckfield. He married Margaret
Lashmer on 9 May 1605 in Cuckfield. They had the following
children:

Thomasine Faulconer was baptised on 6 September 1607 in Cuckfield.

William Faulconer was baptised on 8 January 1609/10 in Cuckfield.

Henry Faulconer was baptised on 21 June 1618 in Cuckfield.

George Faulconer was left a legacy of forty pounds by his father,
which he was to receive when he reached the age of 21 years.

Ellice Faulconer was baptised on 27 March 1580 in Balcombe and
buried there on 17 May 1580.
-
Catherine Faulconer was left a legacy of forty marks by her father,
which was to receive at the age of 24 or on her day of marriage.
-
Elizabeth Faulconer was left a legacy of forty marks by her father,
which was to receive at the age of 24 or on her day of marriage.
