John Etheridge

may have been my 6x Great
Grandparents. (Click
here to see their
possible place in my pedigree chart.) They married by licence on 13 May 1739 in
Billingshurst, Sussex. At the time they were both said to be of Billingshurst.
Their marriage licence was issued on 13 September 1739 by the Archdeaconry
of Chichester, which recorded that he was a widower and carpenter of

provided by John himself and Edward Thompson a victualler of
Chichester. John had previously married Hannah Harriden
by licence on 8 October 1734 in Ashington, Sussex. They were both then
of Thakeham. Their marriage licence was issued on 7 October 1734 by
the Archdeaconry of Chichester, which recorded that he was a bachelor and

for the licence was provided by John himself and John Costellow of
