Daniel ETHEREDGE (1689-1763)

and Jane SHAW (c1690-1761)

 

Daniel Etherige and Jane Shaw married on 21 May 1712 in Horsham, Sussex.  Jane was then a spinster.

Daniel Etheredge was baptised on 12 February 1688/9 in Shipley, Sussex.  He was the son of Edward Etheredge and Jane Hailler.  Daniel was buried on 15 May 1763 in Shipley.  He left a will in which he mentioned his daughters Jane, Sarah and Elizabeth and son Edward, John and Joseph.

Jane Shaw's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was buried on 26 January 1760/1 in Shipley and it was noted in the burial register that she was the wife of Daniel Etheredge.

 

Daniel Etheredge and Jane Shaw had 8 known children:

  1. Jane Etheridge was named in her father's will as his eldest daughter.

    Jane married John Nye on 12 May 1747 in Shipley.

  2. Sarah Etheridge was baptised on 14 April 1717 in Horsham.

    Sarah married Henry Botten on 20 February 1736/7 in Horsham.

  3. Elizabeth Etheridge was baptised on 4 February 1718/9 in Horsham.

    Elizabeth married Richard Grinstead on 13 January 1736/7 in Horsham.  She was then a spinster.

  4. Edward Etheridge was baptised on 14 September 1721 in Horsham.  He died in Horsham and was buried on 5 May 1800 in Shipley.

    Edward married Sarah Kinsett by banns on 6 June 1758 in Horsham.  He was then a husbandman and she a spinster and they were both of Horsham.  The witnesses to their marriage were John Nye and Jane Hunt.

    Sarah was a witness to the marriage of William Baker and Mary Kinsett on 6 April 1766 in Horsham.  She died in Horsham and was buried on 19 November 1806 in Shipley.  It was noted in the burial register that she was a widow.

  5. John Etheridge was named in his father's will.  He may have died in Horsham and have been buried on 29 March 1797 in Shipley.

    John may have married Hannah Jay by licence on 10 May 1772 in Horsham.  He was then a farmer and she a spinster.  The witnesses to their marriage were Solomon Nye and Edward Etheridge.

    Hannah may have been buried as Harriet wife of John Etheridge from Horsham, on 7 April 1773 in Shipley.

  6. Joseph Etheridge was baptised on 23 August 1728 in Horsham.  He was buried on 23 May 1809 in Shipley.

    Joseph married Mary Turner on 30 April 1752 in Horsham.

    Mary was buried on 17 July 1812 in Shipley.

    Joseph and Mary had the following children:

    1. Sarah Etheridge was baptised on 19 August 1753 in Shipley.

    2. Ann Etheridge was baptised on 9 March 1755 in Shipley.  She died in Horsham and was buried on 26 July 1772 in Shipley.

    3. Joseph Etheridge was baptised on 27 February 1757 in Shipley.

    4. John Etheridge was baptised some time between 2 September and 2 December 1759 in Shipley.

    5. Judith Etheridge was baptised on 13 January 1765 in Horsham.  She died in Horsham and was buried on 10 January 1776 in Shipley.

  7. Daniel Etheridge died in Horsham and was buried on 19 January 1730/1 in Shipley.

  8. Daniell Etheridge was baptised on 6 January 1731/2 in Horsham.  He died in Horsham and was buried on 7 March 1733/4 in Shipley.
