minors. (They were not my direct ancestors.)
William Ede's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown,
to me. He may have died aged 50 years and have been buried on 21 June
1832 in Slaugham, therefore, he would have been born about 1782.
Mary Fiest was baptised on 9 March 1788 in Slaugham,
Sussex. She was the daughter of Charles Fiest
(?-1789) and Elizabeth Jupp (?-1791). Mary died aged
51 years and was buried on 25 April 1839 in Slaugham.

Elizabeth Ede was baptised on 1 September 1805 in
Slaugham. She died aged 84 years and was buried on 24 January 1887
Elizabeth married William Langley by banns on 12 November
1827 in Slaugham.
William was baptised on 12 January 1806 in Slaugham and was the son of
Henry Langley (c1766-1828) and Jane Tulett
(c1771-1856). He died aged 82 years and was buried on 30 September
1887 in Slaugham.
When the 1841 census was recorded the couple and 4 children (John,
Elizabeth, William and Sophia) were living in Slaugham. William
was a 37 year old labourer and Elizabeth was 36. Their surname
would seem to have been recorded as Longley. Also with the family
were Elizabeth's sister Matilda and brother Walter.
In 1851 the couple and 5 children (John, William, Sophia, Mary Ann and
Ann) were living in Slaugham. William was a 44 year old
agricultural labourer from Cuckfield and Elizabeth was 45 and from
Slaugham. Also with the family were 2 unmarried lodgers, namely 34
year old George Langley and 22 year old Walter
Eade who were both agricultural labourers.

He was 13 years old in 1841. In 1851 he was a 23 year old
Elizabeth Langley was baptised on 18 September 1831 in
Horsham.. She was 10 years old in 1841.
Langley was born about 1834. He was 7 years old in 1841.
In 1851 he was a 16 year old agricultural labourer.
Langley was baptised on 25 September 1836 in Slaugham.
She was 5 years old in 1841. In 1851 she was said to be 13 years
Langley was baptised on 13 January 1839 in Slaugham and buried
there on 7 June 1840 aged 18 months.
Langley was baptised on 22 August 1841 in Slaugham and buried
there on 3 November 1842 aged 15 months.
Langley was baptised on 31 December 1843 in Slaugham.
Ann Langley was born about 1845 in Slaugham. She was a 6
year old scholar in 1851.
Langley was baptised on 28 June 1846 in Slaugham. She was
4 years old when the 1851 census was recorded.
Ann Ede was baptised on 30 November 1806 in Slaugham.
Mary Ann Ede was baptised on 18 November 1810 in

Harriet Ede was baptised on 17 August 1817 in Slaugham.

When the 1841 census was recorded he was 13 years old and along with his
sister Matilda, lodging in the home of William Langley
in Slaugham. Walter was still living in the home of his
brother-in-law William Langley in 1851 and he was then
a 22 year old agricultural labourer.

1777 in Cowfold, Sussex. The witnesses to their marriage were
John Mills and Walter Hills.
died aged 62 years and was buried on 5 April 1816 in Slaugham, therefore,
born about 1754.
died aged 60 years and was buried on 4 January 1818 in Slaugham, therefore,
born about 1757/8. Ann Morris was baptised on 29

the son of John Fiest and Mary Lelliot.
Charles was buried on 9 August 1789 in Slaugham.
was buried on 8 May 1791 in Slaugham and the burial register noted she was
the widow of Charles Fiest. She may have been
baptised as Elizabeth Jupp on 9 October 1758 in Slaugham
and have been the daughter of Thomas Jupp (1722-?) and
Ann Mitchell (1722-?). (I have taken these
baptism details from a database at Ancestry.co.uk. I have not found
this baptism in the IGI or the SFHG database.) Or might she have
been baptised as Bett Jupp on 21 August 1763 in Cuckfield
and have been the daughter of William Jupp and Ann
