Richard Pearson and Jane Poole were my 6x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married by licence on 17 January 1708/9 in Terwick, Sussex.  Their marriage licence was issued on 14 January 1708/9 by the Archdeaconry of Chichester.  It recorded that Richard Pearson was a bachelor and brickmaker, whilst Jane Dennyer was a widow.  They were both then of Woolbeding.  The sponsors of the licence were Richard himself, Henry Hearsey a cordwainer of Chichester, John Doe and Richarde Doe.  Her name was recorded as Jane Dennier in the marriage register.  Jane had previously married William Denyer on 1 June 1697 in Bepton, Sussex

As a widower and bricklayer of Woolbeding Richard Pearson married Mary Sweet by licence on 12 June 1745 in Cocking, Sussex.  She was a spinster of Woolbeding.  Their marriage licence was issued by the Archdeaconry of Chichester on 10 June 1745.  Surety for the licence was provided by Richard himself and John Gates a bricklayer of Chichester.

William Denyer was baptised on 26 September 1673 in Woolbeding.  He was the son of 5 211 Robert Denyer (c1645-1684) and Elizabeth.  He died in 1705.

Richard Pearson's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He left a will dated 24 March 1748/9 and proved 8 March 1750.  Principally he left his brickyard and meadow to his son Richard and then to his grandson also named Richard.  Click here to read my transcript of his will.

Jane Poole's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She died before 1745.  I have checked the Woolbeding burial register from 1710 until 1750 and could not find a burial for her.

Mary Sweet's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was appointed the sole executrix of her husband's will.

William Denyer and Jane Poole had 4 known children:

1. William Dennyor was baptised on 18 December 1698 in Woolbeding.  He may have married Ann Tribe by licence on 21 November 1720 in Iping, Sussex.  However, their marriage licence, which was issued on 18 November 1720 by the Archdeaconry of Chichester, recorded that William was a tailor of Bramshott in Hampshire.  Sponsors of the licence were William himself and William Philips a husbandman of Rogate, Sussex.

2. Jane Denyer was baptised on 18 January 1699/1700 in Woolbeding.

   Jane married William Fulljames on 29 May 1739 in Heyshott, Sussex.  He was then of Lavant.

   William and Jane had the following known children:

   1. Jane Fuljames was baptised on 4 December 1741 in Midhurst.  She was mentioned in the 1748 will of Richard Pearson as his grandaughter.

   2. Mary Fuljames was baptised on 27 June 1743 in Midhurst.

   3. Anne Fuljames was baptised on 2 January 1744 in Midhurst.

   4. William Fuljames was baptised on 31 July 1746 in Midhurst.

   5. William Fuljames was baptised on 13 February 1747 in Midhurst.

   6. Sarah Fuljames was baptised on 11 March 1749 in Midhurst.

3. Robert Denyer was baptised on 10 March 1700/1 in Woolbeding.  He may have married Ann Austin in 1723.

4. Thomas Denyer was baptised on 18 May 1702 in Woodbeding.  He was left a legacy of five shillings by his step father.

Richard Pearson and Jane Poole may have been the parents of:

1. Ann Pearson was named in her father's 1748 will and she was then the wife of William Pryar.

   As Ann Pearcy she married William Pryor by licence on 31 January 1733/4 in Cocking, Sussex.  They were both then of Heyshott.  Their marriage licence was issued on 29 January 1733/4 by the Archdeaconry of Chichester, which recorded that he was a bachelor and husbandman.

   William and Ann had the following known children:

   1. William Prior was baptised on 23 June 1734 in Heyshott.

   2. Jane Prior was baptised on 14 September 1735 in Heyshott.

   3. Richard Prior was baptised on 22 February 1736 in Heyshott.  He was mentioned in his maternal grandfather's will of 1748.

   4. Sarah Prior was baptised on 25 December 1739 in Heyshott.

   5. John Prior was baptised on 22 March 1741 in Heyshott.

   6. Thomas Prior was baptised on 30 May 1742 in Heyshott.

   7. George Prior was baptised on 23 March 1745 in Heyshott.

   8. James Prior was baptised on 23 October 1748 in Heyshott.

   9. Ann Prior was baptised on 29 September 1751 in Heyshott.

2. Richard Pearson, my 5x Great Grandfather, married Ann Denyer in 1743.  (They have their own page.)

Notes

In addition to "my" Jane Poole, there were at least 2 others of similar age:

1. Jane Pool married William Boone on 10 January 1692/3 in Felpham, Sussex.

2. Jane Poole a Spinster married Thomas Courtney a bachelor, on 23 February 1692/3 in Lurgashall, Sussex.  They were both then of Lurgashall.

The IGI doesn't record any possible baptisms for any of the Jane Poole's.

Elizabeth Poole married Stephen Allen on 2 March 1683/4 in Fernhurst, Sussex.

Benjamin Poole married Martha Marner on 29 April 1678 in Midhurst, Sussex.
