William DENMAN (c1660-1741)

and Jane PLAW (c1660-1740)

William Denman and Jane Plaw married on 10 April 1684 in Newick, Sussex.  He was then of Newick and she of Lindfield, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.

William Denman's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He, or his son, may have been buried on either 6 January 1717 or 23 October 1741, in Newick.  I am guessing that senior died in 1740 and junior in 1717, but I could very well be wrong.

Jane Plaw's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She may have been buried on 15 December 1740 in Newick, but the burial register only records the name.  Might she have been the daughter of Robert Plawe and Jane Hallanes who married on 4 November 1656 in Framfield, Sussex?

William Denman and Jane Plaw had 8 known children:

  1. William Denman was baptised on 6 April 1685 in Newick.  He, or his father may have been buried on either 6 January 1717 or 23 October 1741 in Newick.

  2. Joseph Denman was baptised on 14 August 1687 in Newick and buried there on 24 July 1716.

  3. Edmund Denman was baptised on 21 March 1689/90 in Newick.  He married Ann Heasman in 1717.  (They have their own page.)

  4. John Denman was baptised on 7 February 1691/2 in Newick.

  5. Robert Denman was baptised on 11 June 1695 in Newick and buried there on 12 November 1698.

  6. Jane Denman was baptised on 14 December 1697 in Newick.

  7. Sarah Denman was baptised on 22 February 1700 in Newick.

  8. Elizabeth Denman was baptised on 16 April 1704 in Newick.

Elizabeth may have married John May on 14 February 1737/8 at St. John sub Castro in Lewes.  He was then of Maresfield, Sussex and she of Newick.
