Alexander DODSWELL (1686-1766)

and Anne BAKER (?-1778)

Alexander Dodswell and Anne Baker married by licence dated 1 June 1721 at St. Thomas, Cliffe, Lewes, Sussex.  Their marriage licence was issued on the same day by the Archdeaconry of Lewes, which noted he was a yeoman and she a spinster and they were both of Rotherfield, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Alexander Dodswell was baptised on 2 October 1686 in Rotherfield, Sussex.  He was the son 5 272 Edward Dodswell (1659-1736) and 5 272 Elizabeth Elliott (1649-1735).  Alexander was buried on 6 May 1766 in Rotherfield.  His will was dated 11 February 1766 and proved at Lewes on 9 June 1766.  On the death of his father he inherited Anyscombes.  He was a yeoman and Overseer of the Poor of Rotherfield in 1744.

Anne Baker was the daughter of William Baker of Sandhill.  She was buried on 7 April 1778 in Rotherfield.
