Richard CRACKBONE (1624-?)

and Mary PEREGOE (1617-1667)

Richard Crackbone and Mary Peregoe were my 9x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 3 May 1646 at the parish church of St. Clements in Hastings, Sussex.

Richard Crackbone may have been baptised on 4 April 1624 in Penhurst, Sussex and have been the son of Thomas Crackbone and Susan Darley.

Mary Perigoe was baptised on 22 March 1617 at St. Clements, Hastings.  She was the daughter of John Perigoe (1588-?) and Amy Scott, nee Gregorie (1589-?).

Anne wife of Richard Crackbone was buried on 16 May 1667 in Catsfield.  Might this have been the burial of Mary?

Richard Crackbone and Mary Peregoe had 4 known children:

  1. Anne Crackbone was baptised on 21 May 1647 at St. Clements, Hastings.  As Ann Crackbon she married Thomas Tolhurst on 28 May 1672 in Brightling.

  2. Mary Crackbone was baptised on 27 February 1649 in Catsfield.  She may have married Jeremiah James on 26 July 1680 in Hooe, Sussex.

  3. Elizabeth Crackbone was baptised on 20 February 1652 in Catsfield.

  4. Martha Crackbone, my 8x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 12 August 1655 in Catsfield.  She married Thomas Punnett in 1678.  (They have their own page.)

Richard may have married again to Mary Kibber on 19 September 1667 at St. John sub Castro in Lewes, Sussex.  Richard was then of Catsfield and Mary of Bexhill.  He may then have married Elizabeth Smith on 28 May 1672 in Penshurst.  Again, Richard was of Catsfield and Elizabeth of Winchelsea.

Mary wife of Richard Crackbone was buried on 26 May 1671 in Catsfield.
