Henry COOPER
(1789-1865)
and Philadelphia WILLARD (1795-1847)

Henry Cooper
and Philadelphia Willard married on 31 July 1814 in
Sullington, Sussex. At the time he was a bachelor and she a spinster
of Storrington, Sussex. The witnesses to their marriage were
James Mitchell and Lucy Mitchell.
(They were not my
direct ancestors.)
Henry Cooper was baptised on 18
October 1789 in Storrington, Sussex. He was the son of John Cooper
and Mary. He died aged 80 years and was buried on 8
January 1865 in Storrington.
Philadelphia Willard was baptised on 31 May 1795 in West Chiltington,
Sussex. She was the daughter of
William
Willard (1757-?) and
Philadelphia Kidd. She died aged 52 years at Oldfield Common
and was buried on 8 August 1847 in Storrington.
On 19 April 1819 a Removal Order was issued to Henry, wife Philadelphia
and children, 4 year old William, 2 year old Harriet and 7 month old
George, from Storrington to Sullington, or vice versa. When the 1841
census was recorded the family were living in Storrington. At the time
of the 1861 census, Henry was living at Old Field Cottage, Storrington,
along with widowed daughter and 3 grandsons. He was then a 76 year old
bailiff who gave his place of birth as Storrington.
Henry Cooper and
Philadelphia Willard had 9 known children:
-
William Cooper was baptised on 5 February 1815 in Storrington, at
which time his father was a labourer from Roundabouts. He may have died aged 67
years in the third quarter of 1881.
William married Charlotte Tribe
by banns on 24 October 1835 in Pulborough, Sussex. He was then of
Storrington and she of Pulborough. The witnesses to the marriage
were Mary Cooper and Charles Balchin.

born about 1816.
William and Charlotte had 4 known children:

George Cooper was born about 1836.

then a brewer's foreman. The couple had 5 known children:
