Stephen COMBER (1705-1786)
and Mary PETERS (c1710-1770)

Stephen
Comber and
Mary Peters
married on 17 July 1729 in Nuthurst, Sussex.
(They were not my direct ancestors. Stephen was the brother of my 6x
great grandmother, Anne Comber.)
Stephen
Comber was born
and baptised on 2 June 1705 in Ardingly, Sussex. He was the son of
John Comber
(1666-1729) and
Judith White (1666-1726). He was buried on 28 December 1786 in
Balcombe, Sussex. He was of “Hewbans”, Balcombe. He doesn't seem
to have left a will. By the terms of this father's will he received
thirty pounds.
Mary Peter's
date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
Mary was buried on 8 March 1770 in Balcombe and was described in the burial
register as Mary wife of Stephen Coomber.
A Mary Peters was a
witness to Stephen's father's will of 1726.
Stephen Comber and
Mary Peters had 4 known children:
-
Mary Cumber was baptised on 28 November 1729 in Balcombe and buried
there on 22 February 1730. Only her father's name was recorded
against her baptism and burial.
-
Mary Cumber was baptised on 12 October 1731 in Balcombe. Only
her father's name was recorded against her baptism.
-
Stephen Cumber
was baptised on 14 August 1733 in Balcombe. Only his father's name
was recorded against his baptism. He married
Elizabeth Michel
in 1758. (They have their own page.)
-
Sarah Cumber was baptised on 19 October 1735 in Balcombe. Her
parents names were not recorded against her baptism. She may have
been buried on 22 March 1769 in Balcombe.
