Francis COMBER (1695-1756)

and Anne NEALE (1696-1769)

Francis Comber and Anne Neale married by licence on 18 December 1722 in Lindfield, Sussex.  Their marriage licence was issued in South Malling on 17 December 1722.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  Francis was the brother of my 6x Great Grandmother, Anne Comber.)

Francis Comber was born and baptised on 11 July 1695 in Ardingly, Sussex.  He was the son of John Comber (1660-1729) and Judith White (1666-1726).  He was a wheelwright.  Francis was buried in Lindfield on 25 August 1756.  His Uncle Francis Comber (1646-1701) was his Godfather.  By the terms of his father's 1726 will he was to receive a legacy of twenty pounds.

Ann Neale was baptised on 29 October 1696 in Lindfield.  She was the daughter of Anthony Neale (1668-1728) and Anne Earle (1672-?).  Her father was a butcher.  She was buried in Lindfield on 22 July 1769.

Francis Comber and Ann Neale had 4 known children:

  1. John Comber was baptised on 18 July 1723 in Lindfield and buried there on 23 September 1723.

  2. Elizabeth Comber was baptised on 18 January 1724/5 in Lindfield.

  3. Francis Comber was baptised on 17 March 1726/7 in Lindfield.  He married Mary Martin in 1752.  (They have their own page.)

  4. Anthony Comber was baptised on 3 December 1734 in Lindfield an buried there on 4 December 1734.
