Edward COLBRAN (1716-?)

and Hannah URIDGE (c1720-?)

 

Edward Colbran and Hannah Uridge married on 3 May 1741 in Buxted, Sussex.  He was then said to be of Alciston.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Edward Colbran was baptised on 6 May 1716 in Warbleton, Sussex.  He was the son of Edward Colbran and Barbara Wood.

Hannah Uridge's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Might she have been the daughter of William Eurige and Mary Avery who married in 1706 in Wartling, Sussex?  Another source on the web says she was the daughter of Thomas Uridge who died in Buxted in 1739.

 

Edward Colbran and Hannah Uridge had 6 known children:

  1. Hannah Colebrand was baptised on 7 March 1741/2 in Buxted, Sussex.

  2. Elizabeth Colebrand was baptised on 1 May 1743 in Buxted.  Did she marry George Banister by licence on 7 November 1762 in Hailsham, Sussex?  They were both said to be of Hailsham.

  3. Mary Colebrand was baptised on 9 September 1744 in Buxted.

  4. John Colebrand was baptised on 11 February 1745/6 in Buxted.  John married Mary Carrett in 1773.  (They have their own page.)

  5. Edward Colebrand was baptised on 10 April 1748 in Buxted.

  6. Barbara Colebrand was baptised on 6 January 1752 in Buxted.  Did she marry John Streeter on 17 August 1783 in Uckfield, and/or 18 January 1784 in Buxted?

 

I have taken the baptism dates from the IGI and marriages from the Sussex marriage index.  I have also compared details with family trees to be found on Ancestry.co.uk.
