Thomas CAPLIN
(c1645-1717)
and Elizabeth BROOMER (c1655-1732)

Thomas Caplyn
and Elizabeth
Broomer
were possibly my 8x Great
Grandparents. (Click
here
to see their place in my pedigree chart.) They married on 27
December 1678 in Henfield, Sussex.
Thomas Caplin's
date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me. He left a will
dated 17 September 1714 and proved on 6 May 1717 - click
here to read my
transcript of his will - at which time he was a yeoman of Ashington, Sussex.
He may have been the son of
John Caplin who left a will proved in
1670, in which he appointed his son, Thomas Caplin as the executor.
Elizabeth Broomer's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to
me. She
was buried as a widow, on 3 June 1732 in Ashington. Elizabeth was
appointed the sole executrix of her husband's will and her brother
William Broomeham was to be an overseer of his will. Her brother,
as William Broomer married Elizabeth
Smith on 16 January 1667/8 in Henfield. Might Elizabeth and
William have been the children of William Bromeham and Jane Peter
who married on 13 May 1647 in Henfield?
Thomas Caplin and
Elizabeth Broomer had 5 known children:
-
Daniel Caplin, my possible 7x Great Grandfather,
was mentioned in his father's will. He
married Sarah in about 1705. (They have their own page.)
-
Elizabeth
Caplin was baptised on 6 September 1685 in Ashington. Only her
father's name was recorded against her baptism entry. She was
mentioned in her father's will.
-
Alice Capelyn
was baptised on 2 Febraury 1690/1 in Ashington. She probably died
young as she was not mentioned in her father's will.
-
William
Capelyn was buried on 7 February 1693/4 in Ashington, when he was
described in the burial register as the son of Thomas Capelyn.
I could not find his baptism in the Ashington registers.
-
Thomas Capelyn
was baptised on 6 February 1695/6 in Ashington. Only his father's
name was recorded in the register. He was buried on 27 April 1714 in
Ashington, as Thomas son of Thom Caplin.
