My Caplin Ancestors
A 6x Great Grandmother may have been
Mary Caplin
who was born 1714 in Ashington, Sussex. She married
Thomas Ward
(1716-1783) in 1740 in her home village and then settled in his home village
of Henfield.
Mary was the daughter of
Daniel Caplin
and Sarah. They married about or before 1705 and had 10 known
children. Daniel was the son of
Thomas Caplin and
Elizabeth Broomer who married in 1678 in Henfield.
Please note, I can not be certain that Mary Caplin was my ancestor.
Her possible Great Grandson, Samuel Stillaway, was said to have been
born about 1814/5 in Henfield and have been the son of William Stillaway,
but I have not found his baptism. There would seem to have been only
one William Stillaway around at the time who could have been his
father, but until I find further evidence, I can only speculate who his
ancestors may have been.
