William BURLEY (1630-?)

and Anne BROOKER (1645-?)

 

William Burley and Anne Brooker married on 17 October 1665 in East Grinstead, Sussex.  (At one point I had thought William and Anne were my ancestors, but have since realised they were not.)

William Burley was baptised on 14 February 1630 in East Grinstead.  He was the son of 5 251 John Burley and 5 251 Ann Bannester.  The IGI records that he was born about 1640. 5 246

Anne Brooker was baptised on 22 March 1644/5 in Worth, Sussex.  She was the daughter of 5 249 Thomas Brooker (1611-1649) and 5 249 Anne Steer (c1610-1649).  She was an orphan before her 5th birthday.

 

William Burley and Anne Brooker had 9 known children:

  1. William Burley was baptised on 22 August 1666 in East Grinstead.  He may have died on 7 May 1717 or his maybe the burial recorded in the East Grinstead register on 11 March 1726/7.

    William married Ann Todman on 19 April 1696 in East Grinstead.

    Ann was baptised on 16 March 1672/3 in West Hoathly, Sussex and was the daughter of Richard Todman (1647-?) and Ann Topsell (1651-?).

    William and Ann had 4 known children:

    1. William Burley was born on 3 April and baptised on 9 April 1697 in East Grinstead.  He was buired on 20 April 1761 in Ardingly.  William married Mary Randall on 14 April 1718 in Ardingly.

    2. Mary Burley was baptised on 8 May 1702 in East Grinstead and buried there on 17 January 1720/1.

    3. Anne Burley was baptised on 7 May 1707 in East Grinstead.

    4. John Burley was baptised on 24 March 1709/10 in East Grinstead.  He may have emigrated to Bucks County, Pennsylvania and have married Alice in about 1733.  Or the John who married Alice may have been an Ulster Scot.

  2. Anne Burley was baptised on 23 February 1667/8 in East Grinstead.

  3. Thomas Burley was baptised on 7 May 1670 in East Grinstead.

  4. Robert Burley was baptised on 3 March 1671/2 in East Grinstead.

  5. Sarah Burley was baptised on 10 May 1674 in East Grinstead.  She married Thomas Simmonds in 1699.  (They have their own page.)  However, she may have married George Jenner by Banns on 20 February 1697/8 in Cuckfield, Sussex and the register records they were both single.

  6. Henry Burley was baptised on 11 March 1675/6 in East Grinstead.

    Henry married Jane Fieldwick on 15 February 1701 in East Grinstead.

    They had 1 known son:

    1. John Burley was baptised on 27 August 1710 in East Grinstead.

  7. Jane Burley was baptised on 2 April 1679/80 in East Grinstead.

    Jane had an illegitimate son:

    1. Gibson Burley was baptised on 10 November 1703 in East Grinstead.

  8. John Burley was baptised on 21 December 1684 in East Grinstead.  He may have married Mary Hoadley on 19 January 1712/13 in Worth.

  9. Charles Burley was baptised on 3 March 1685/6 in East Grinstead.
