William BUDGEN (1736-?)

and Jane MITCHELL (c1740-?)

 

William Budgen and Jane Mitchell married on 18 May 1756 in West Hoathly, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

William Budgen was baptised on 14 March 1735/6 in West Hoathly.  He was the son of William Budgen (1707-?) and Elizabeth Farmer (1705-?).

Jane Mitchell's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Might she have been baptised on 29 March 1737 in Horsted Keynes, Sussex and have been the daughter of Richard Mitchell?

 

William Budgen and Jane Mitchell had 7 known children: 

  1. Elizabeth Budgen was baptised on 7 January 1759 in West Hoathly.

  2. William Budgen was baptised on 1 February 1761 in West Hoathly.

  3. Mary Budgen was baptised on 3 September 1763 in West Hoathly and buried there on 5 September 1763.

  4. Obadiah Budgen was baptised on 24 June 1764 in West Hoathly.

    Obediah married Martha Holman on 8 October 1791 in Worth.  The witnesses to the marriage were John Prudence and Sarah Budgen.

    Martha was baptised on 24 May 1767 in Worth and was the daughter of John Holman (1718-1797) and Sarah Harland (1731-1806).

  5. Sarah Budgen was baptised on 18 July 1766 in West Hoathly.

  6. Thomas Budgen was baptised on 22 January 1769 in West Hoathly.  He died in 1834.  Thomas married Hannah Stanbridge possibly on 18 September 1793 in West Hoathly, although her name was recorded as Katherine Stanbridge.

  7. James Budgen was baptised on 3 May 1772 in West Hoathly.  James married Mary Finch by banns on 4 February 1794 in West Hoathly.  They were both then of West Hoathly.
