Edward Brookes married twice, firstly to Margaret
Farley by licence on 15 January 1634/5 at St. Olave in Chichester,
Sussex. Their marriage licence was issued on 14 January 1634/5 by the
Archdeaconry of Chichester, and noted that he was a husbandman and she a
spinster and they were both of Shipley. As Edward Brookes
he next married Agnes Hamson by licence on
15 October 1638 in Cuckfield, Sussex Their marriage licence was issued
on 13 October 1638 by the Archdeaconry of Lewes, which noted that he was a
yeoman of Ashurst and she a spinster of Cuckfield.
Edward Brooke was baptised on 25 August 1606 in Shipley,
Sussex. He was the son of
(c1580-1617) and Mary
Wheatley (c1585-1639). Edward was buried on 10
October 1652 in West Grinstead.
Margaret Farley's date and place of birth/baptism are
unknown, to me. She was buried on 11 May 1638 in West Grinstead,
Sussex and it was noted in the burial register that Margaret wife of
Edward Brookes from Ashurst was buried. A Margaret
Farley was baptised in 1600 in Ditchling, but she most probably
married there in 1621.
Agnes Hamson's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown,
to me. An Ann Brooks, widow, was buried on 1 December
1670 in West Grinstead.

Grinstead and it was noted in the burial register that he was the son of
Edward from Ashurst.
Edward Brookes and Agnes Hamson had 2 known children:
Thomas Brookes was baptised on 23 January 1641/2 in
Ashurst. He was buried on 16 November 1696 in West Grinstead.
