William BROOKER (1704-1785)

and Frances TAYLOR (c1702-1786)

 

William Brooker and Frances Taylor married on 30 August 1722 in Ringmer, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

William Brooker was baptised on 11 February 1703/4 in Isfield, Sussex.  He was the son of Henry Brooker and Elizabeth.  He was buried in Isfield on 28 March 1785.

Frances Taylor’s date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was buried on 26 February 1786 in Isfield.

 

William Brooker and Frances Taylor had 12 known children:

  1. Ann Brooker was baptised on 7 July 1723 in Isfield.  Did she marry John Newnham by banns on 21 May 1747 in Chiddingly, Sussex?  At the time they were both of Chiddingly.  Or might she have married William Hoadly on 13 February 1750/1 in Barcombe, Sussex?

  2. Elizabeth Brooker was baptised on 1 November 1724 in Isfield.

  3. Mary Brooker was baptised on 9 January 1725/6 in Isfield.  She may have married Joseph Riddle of Buxted on 17 July 1749 in Isfield.

  4. William Brooker was baptised on 9 May 1727 in Isfield.

  5. Henry Brooker was baptised on 12 January 1728/9 in Isfield.  He may have married Elizabeth Durrant on 23 ? 1748 in Isfield.

  6. John Brooker was baptised on 28 November 1731 in Isfield.

  7. Frances Brooker was baptised on 24 September 1732 in Isfield.  She was buried on 15 October 1809 in Brenzett, Kent.

    Frances married George Swaine on 10 April 1758 in Barcombe, Sussex.

    George was baptised on 30 April 1732 in Burwash, Sussex, and was the son of George Swaine (1702-1733) and Elizabeth Goring (?-1775).  After George's fathers early death, his mother married Henry Monk in 1737.

    George and Frances had 4 known children:

    1. Sarah Swaine was baptised on 26 August 1759 in Barcombe.

    2. Mary Swaine was baptised on 9 May 1762 in Barcombe.

    3. Barbara Swaine was baptised on 22 February 1767 in Barcombe.

    4. Lydia Swaine was baptised on 29 September 1771 in Barcombe.  She married William Gillett.

    (Another Frances Brooker was born in about 1744 and she married Richard Knowles in 1765.  As yet I don't know if there was any link between the two families.)

  8. George Brooker was baptised on 5 November 1733 in Isfield.  (There was another George Brooker born in 1732 in Slaugham.  One of them may have married Mary Tunnel on 31 April 1752 in Ditchling, Sussex.  Might her name have been Mary Funnel?)

  9. Barbara Brooker was baptised on 25 January 1734/5 in Isfield.  She died aged 60 (according to the burial register) and was buried on 4 January 1807 in Framfield.

    Barbara married twice, firstly to William Shadrack on 5 August 1756 in Isfield, and then to David Midmer on 17 September 1771 in Buxted, Sussex.  David was then a widower of Framfield and Barbara a widow of Buxted.

    William Shadrack or Shaderick or Southerick or Sedrick, may have been born about 1731.  He was buried in Ringmer on 30 May 1763.

    William and Barbara had 4 known children:

    1. Elizabeth Shadrack was baptised on 30 October 1757 in Ringmer.

      As Elizabeth Shadderick she married John Newnham on 11 October 1780 in Framfield.  He was then of Ringmer.

      John was born in about 1743 and died aged 77 years in 1820.

      John and Elizabeth had 8 known children.

    2. William Shadrack was baptised on 24 March 1759 in Ringmer and buried there on 4 March 1759.

    3. Thomas Shadrack was baptised on 23 November 1760 in Ringmer.

    4. John Shadrack was baptised on 3 July 1763 in Ringmer and buried there on 22 November 1763.

    David Midmer was baptised on 29 August 1740 in Framfield.  He was the son of Thomas Midmer and Martha (c1705-1787).  He or his son was buried on 29 June 1777 in Framfield.

    David and Barbara had 4 known children:

    1. Lydia Midmer was baptised on 8 November 1772 in Framfield.

    2. Benjamin Midmer was baptised on 18 October 1775 in Framfield.

    3. David Midmer was baptised on 1 April 1777 in Framfield.

    4. Fanny Midmer was baptised on 1 April 1777 in Framfield.

  10. Matthew Brooker was baptised on 25 June 1738 in Isfield.

  11. Daniel Brooker was baptised on 23 January 1739/40 in Isfield.

  12. Lucy Brooker was baptised on 1 January 1742/3 in Isfield.
