Michael BROOKER (1716-1805)

and Mary (?-?)

 

Michael Brooker and Mary may have married sometime before or about 1745.  They raised their family in Framfield, Sussex.

Michael Brooker was baptised on 16 April 1716 in Framfield, Sussex.  He was the son of Edward Brooker (1688-1746) and Elizabeth Newnham (1690-?).  By the terms of his grandfather will, Michael Brooker's (c1662-1751), he was left Brookhurst Farm on Blackboys Common.

Mary's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

 

Michael Brooker and Mary may have had the following children:

  1. Mary Brooker was baptised on 27 March 1744 in Framfield.  Her mother's name was recorded as Elizabeth in baptism register.  Was she part of this this family and died young?  Or was her mother really Elizabeth, and, therefore, not part of this family?

  2. Elizabeth Brooker was baptised on 1 January 1746 in Framfield.  Her mother's name was recorded as Mary in the baptism register.  She married ? Clark.

  3. Sarah Brooker was baptised on 10 May 1747 in Framfield.  Her mother's name was recorded as Mary in the baptism register.  She may have married ? Humphrey.  (A Sarah Booker married Joseph Smith Humphrey on 28 April 1779 at the Ifield Quaker meeting house.  Her parents were named as John Booker, a miller and Sarah Balcombe.  Joseph was the son of Joseph Smith Humphrey and Ann Balcombe.)

  4. Michael Brooker was baptised on 14 January 1750 in Framfield.  His mother's name was recorded as Mary in the baptism register.

  5. Ann Brooker was baptised on 8 October 1752 in Framfield.  Her mother's name was recorded as Mary in the baptism register.

    Ann married William Goodwin on 8 December 1770 in Mayfield.

  6. John Brooker was baptised on 7 September 1755 in Framfield.  His mother's name was recorded as Mary in the baptism register.

  7. Barbary Brooker was baptised on 24 September 1758 in Framfield.  Her mother's name was recorded as Ann in the baptism register.

    Barbara married William Newnham on 5 January 1796 in Framfield.   He was then a widower.

  8. Richard Brooker was baptised on 27 February 1763 in Framfield.  His mother's name was recorded as Mary in the baptism register.  He inherited Brookhurst Farm on Blackboys Common from his father.  Richard was buried on 16 November 1843.

    Richard married Elizabeth Hartfield on 1 February 1789 in Framfield.

  9. Mary Brooker was baptised on 3 November 1765 in Framfield.  Her mother's name was recorded as Mary in the baptism register.

    Mary married James Dadswell by banns on 13 April 1787 in Rotherfield.  They were both then of Rotherfield.  A witness to their marriage was Nicholas Dadswell.

    James was baptised on 16 August 1761 in Rotherfield and was the son of David Dadswell (1723-1803) and Ann Oakill (1731-1800).

  10. William Brooker was baptised on 12 February 1769 in Framfield.  His mother's name was recorded as Elizabeth in the baptism register.  He died young.
