Michael BROOKER (c1662-1751)

and Ann TURNESS (1663-?)

 

Michael Brooker and Ann Turness married on 15 June 1686 in the parish church of St. Thomas à Beckett in Fletching, Sussex.

Michael Brooker may have been baptised on 25 March 1664 in West Hoathly and have been the son of Michael Brooker and Anne.  He was buried on 19 May 1751 in Framfield.  He held the position of parish clerk in Framfield from 1688 until 1751.  He was a brickmaker.  The Manor Court Books record that in 1726 Michael took over a cottage in Framfield, which may have been Brookhurst Farm.  He left property at Blackboys to his grandson Michael Brooker (1716-1805).

Ann Turness was born on 7 June 1663.  She was the daughter of Edward Turness and Leah Brooker who were of Isfield, Sussex.  They married on 2 October 1649 in Isfield.  Edward was baptised on 26 February 1626 in Framfield, Sussex and was the son of John Turness.

 

Michael Brooker and Ann Turness may have had the following children:

  1. Edward Brooker was baptised on 10 June 1688 in Framfield.

    Edward married Elizabeth Newnham on 10 April 1711.

    Edward and Elizabeth had the following son:

    1. Michael Brooker was baptised on 16 April 1716 in Framfield, Sussex.  He married Mary sometime before or about 1745.  (They have their own page.)

  2. William Brooker was baptised on 28 April 1690 in Framfield and buried there on 2 May 1690.

  3. Ann Brooker was baptised on 28 April 1690 in Framfield and buried there on 2 May 1690.

  4. Michael Brooker was baptised on 16 August 1691 in Framfield.

  5. John Brooker was baptised on 26 February 1692/3 in Framfield.  He married Mary Underhill on 14 February 1728 in Stanmer, Sussex.

  6. Leah Brooker was baptised on 19 October 1694 in Framfield.  She was buried on 2 June 1765 in Uckfield.

    Leah married Thomas Diggens on 7 March 1720 in Newhaven, Sussex.

    Thomas was buried in Uckfield on 21 March 1741.

    Thomas and Leah had the following children:

    1. John Diggins was baptised on 2 May 1725 in Uckfield, Sussex.

    2. Martha Diggins was baptised on 17 November 1726 in Uckfield.

    3. William Diggins was baptised on 16 September 1728 in Uckfield.

    4. Anne Diggins was baptised on 24 October 1730 in Uckfield.

  7. David Brooker was baptised on 11 October 1696 in Framfield.

  8. Rachel Brooker was baptised on 6 February 1697 in Framfield and buried there on 18 August 1705.

  9. Elizabeth Brooker was baptised on 31 March 1699 in Framfield and buried there on 6 October 1702.

  10. Ann Brooker was baptised on 26 November 1701 in Framfield.  She was buried on 25 November 1771 in Framfield.

    Ann married George Martin on 16 June 1736 in Framfield.

    George was buried in Framfield on 15 July 1771.

    George and Ann had the following children:

    1. Mary Martin was baptised on 12 July 1737.  She may have been buried on 24 February 1806.

    2. Ann Martin was baptised on 25 July 1739.

    3. Thomas Martin was baptised on 22 August 1742.  He was buried on 12 December 1809.  Thomas married Mary Crowhurst on 3 August 1768.

    4. Elizabeth Martin was baptised on 18 May 1746 and buried on 24 January 1747.

  11. Henry Brooker was baptised on 12 September 1703 in Framfield and buried there on 20 January 1703/4.

  12. Elizabeth Brooker was baptised on 12 September 1703 in Framfield and buried there on 20 January 1703/4.

  13. Joseph Brooker was baptised on 11 August 1707 in Framfield and buried there on 22 February 1710.
