Michaell BROUKER (?-1645)

and Mary (?-?)

and Jane/Joane (?-1639)

and Margaret HAYWARD (?-1679)

Michaell Brooker may have married 2 or 3 times.  Firstly to Mary sometime before or about 1629.  Next to Jane or Joane before or about 1633.  Or Mary and Jane/Joan may have been one and the same, as a Michael Brooker married Joan Weymarke on 26 January 1628/9 in West Grinstead, Sussex.  And finally as Micaell Brooker to Margaret Hayward on 13 February 1643/4 in Worth, Sussex.

Michaell Brouker's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He may have been buried on 10 April 1645 in Worth as Mihill Brooker.

Mary's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  (I assume she died between 1631 and 1633, unless Mary and Jane/Joane were one and the same.)

Jane or Joane's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was buried as Joane Brooker on 13 February 1639 in Worth and the burial register noted she was the wife of Michaell Brooker.  A Joan Waymarke was baptised on 8 December 1605 in Newtimber, Sussex, the daughter of Simon Wimarke and Faith Caswell.

Margaret Hayward's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was buried on 17 June 1679 in Worth and the burial register noted she was a widow.

Michaell Brouker and Mary had 2 known children:

  1. Nicholas Brouker was baptised on 14 February 1629/30 in Worth and buried there on 16 February 1630.  His parents were named as Michaell and Mary in the baptism and burial register.

  2. Frances Brouker was baptised on 10 June 1631 in Worth and buried there on 1 August 1638.  Her parents were named as Michael and Mary in the baptism and burial registers.

Michael Brooker and Jane/Joane had 3 known children:

  1. Michaell Brouker was baptised on 15 December 1633 in Worth.  His parents were named as Michaell and Jane in the baptism register.  He married Anne in about 1662.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Thomas Brouker was baptised on 15 December 1633 in Worth and buried there on 23 February 1634.  His parents were named as Michaell and Jane in the baptism register and Michaell and Jonne in the burial register.

  3. Mary Brooker was baptised on 3 February 1638/9 in Worth and buried there on 22 February 1639.  Her parents were named as Michaell and Joane in the baptism register.  Only her father's name was noted in the burial register.

Michaell Brooker and Margaret had 1 known child:

  1. Sarah Brooker was baptised on 13 September 1644 in Worth.  Her parents were named as Michaell and Margaret in the baptism register.

Joan Broker daughter of Mihill Broker was buried on 5 October 1646 in Worth.  (Might she have been born in the gap between Thomas 1633 and Mary 1639?)

Simon Wimarke and Faith Caswell married on 22 May 1603 in Plumpton, Sussex.

Faith Caswell was baptised on 2 August 1581 in Fletching, Sussex, the daughter of William Caswell and Elizabeth Vyne.  Faith Wimarke, widow, married William Gering of Poynings on 3 September 1627 in in Pyecombe.

Simon and Faith had the following children:

  1. James Wymarke was baptised on 10 March 1603/4 in Plumpton, the son of Simon Wymarke.

  2. Joan Waymarke was baptised on 8 December 1605 in Newtimber, Sussex, the daughter of Simon Waymarke.

  3. Margaret Wymarke was baptised on 24 April 1608 in Pyecombe, Sussex, the daughter of Simon Wymarke and Fayth.

  4. John Wymarke was baptised on 14 October 1610 in Pyecombe, the son of Symon Symarke.

  5. Thomas Wimarke was baptised in January 1613 in Pyecombe, the son of Simon Wimarke and Faith.

A Joan Wymarke married Thomas Lambe on 2 February 1625/6 in Plumpton.  Might this have been the marriage of Joan baptised in 1605, rather than to Michael in 1628?

Thomas and Joan had the following children:

  1. Alce Lamb was baptised on 30 October 1631 in Ringmer.  The baptism register noted her parents as Thomas and Jone.

  2. Margaret Lambe was baptised on 19 January 1633/4 in Ringmer.  The baptism register noted her parents as Thomas and Jone.
