Richard BOX (1754-1831)

and Mary LYWOOD (1760-1824)

 

Richard Box and Mary Lywood married on 21 January 1780 in West Hoathly, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  Richard was the nephew of my 5x Great Grandfather, John Box.)

Richard Box was born on 8 November 1754 and baptised on 1 December 1754 in Ardingly, Sussex.  He was the son of George Box (1723-1801) and Judith White (1722-1802).  Richard died aged 78 years and was buried on 1 February 1831 in West Hoathly.

Mary Lywood was baptised on 9 November 1760 in West Hoathly.  She was the daughter of Joseph Lywood and Ann.  Mary died aged 64 years and was buried on 18 March 1824 in West Hoathly.

 

Richard Box and Mary Lywood had 12 known children: 

  1. Jane Box was baptised on 17 April 1780 in West Hoathly.

    Jane married William Sherley by banns on 13 October 1797 in West Hoathly.  At the time she was of West Hoathly and he of East Grinstead.

  2. Mary Box was baptised on 14 April 1782 in West Hoathly.  She was buried there on 3 June 1853.

    Mary married Joseph Miles by banns on 5 September 1802 in East Grinstead.

  3. William Box was baptised on 21 August 1784 in West Hoathly and buried there on 24 August 1785.

  4. William Box was baptised on 24 July 1786 in West Hoathly.

  5. John Box was baptised on 16 August 1787 in West Hoathly.

  6. Elizabeth Box was baptised on 10 January 1790 in West Hoathly and buried there in November 1794.

  7. Ann Box was baptised on 5 August 1792 in West Hoathly and buried there on 30 November 1794.

  8. Richard Box was baptised on 15 March 1795 in West Hoathly.

    Richard married  Elizabeth Francis Childs on 31 March 1821 in Horsted Keynes, Sussex.

    Elizabeth Francis Childs was baptised on 19 December 1797 in Horsted Keynes and was the daughter of Philip Childs (1770-?) and Elizabeth Marden (1764-?).

  9. Elizabeth Box was baptised in May 1797 in West Hoathly.

    Elizabeth married William Wheeler  by licence on 10 December 1830 in West Hoathly.

  10. John Box was baptised in May 1797 in West Hoathly.

  11. Peter Box was baptised in June 1797 in West Hoathly.

    Peter married Ann Harber by banns on 22 August 1824 in Worth, Sussex.  At the time he was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Worth.  The witnesses were George Hammon and Elizabeth Bish.

    Ann was baptised on 28 June 1802 in Worth and was the daughter of Henry Harbour and Ann Gorringe.

  12. Sarah Box was baptised on 4 June 1797 in West Hoathly.

    Sarah married John Langridge on 18 March 1818 in East Grinstead.
