and Benedicta Jane
Holland married
by licence on 6 January 1816 at Salehurst, Sussex. They were both then
said to be 21 years old and he was from Battle, Sussex. The witnesses
to their marriage were Samuel Gutsell and John
Heathfield. Peter married again in the first
quarter of 1842 to Mary Gallop in the Battle registration
district. (They were not my direct ancestors, but they were the 4x
Great Grandparents of my cousin Julie Willard.)
Peter Bourner was baptised on 3 May 1793 in Battle, Sussex.
He was the son of James Bourner (c1759-?) and
Elizabeth Lade (c1766-?). He died on 20 December 1859 and his
death was registered in the fourth quarter of 1859 in the Hailsham
registration district.
Benedicta Jane Holland's date and place of birth are
unknown, to me. Her name was recorded as Jane against the baptisms of
her children in Crowhurst and Jane Benedicta against those in Dallington.
Her death was recorded in the third quarter of 1841 in the Battle
registration district as Jane Bennedict Bourner.
Mary was born about 1805 in Northiam, Sussex.
The 1841 census recorded that Peter and Jane were both 45 years old and
living at Bridgenhill, Ashburnham, along with 5 children. Peter was
then a farmer. The previous property on the census enumerators route
was Prays Hill and that was occupied by 57 year old David Honeysett
and his 52 year old wife Frances.
When the 1851 census was recorded Peter was a 58 year old farmer of 212
acres, living at Bridgenhill in Ashburnham, Sussex, along with his 46 year
old wife Mary, and 5 children.
Peter Bourner and Benedicta Jane Holland had 11 known children:

Peter Augustus Bourner was baptised on 24 July 1816 in
Crowhurst. He died aged 72 years and his death was registered in
the fourth quarter of 1888 in the Hailsham registration district.
Peter married Sarah Barton in the second quarter of 1840
in the Hailsham registration district.
Sarah was born on 11 October 1818 and baptised on 8 November 1818 at the
Independent Chapel in Heathfield, Sussex. She was the daughter of
John Barton and Catherine Kelly.
Peter and Sarah had the following children:

Peter Bourner was baptised on 22 October 1843 in
Dallington.

Mary Anne Bourner was baptised on 22 October 1843 in
Dallington.

David Bourner was born in 1846 in Ashburnham and died
in 1917. David married Sarah White on 2 April
1870 at St. John's, Bodle Street Green. He was then 25 and she was
23. David and Sarah had the following daughter:

Rose Catherine Bourner was baptised on 9 April 1871
at St. John's, Bodle Street Green. Her father was then a
labourer of Woodland Farm. She died aged 70 years and was
buried in Mountfield, Sussx. Rosa married William
Charles Pont.

Flora Agnes Bourner was baptised on 9 April 1871 at
St. John's, Bodle Street Green.

Emily Bourner was born in 1847 in Ashburnham. She
was buried on 17 February 1924 in Heathfield.

Sarah or Sally Bourner was born in
1852 in Crowhurst. She was buried on 26 April 1939 in Crowhurst.

John Bourner was baptised on 10 November 1854 in Bodle
Street, Sussex.

Robert John Bourner was baptised on 14 March 1821 in
Crowhurst. He died aged 74 years and his death was registered in
the first quarter of 1895 in the Greenwich registration district.
Robert married Louisa Anderson in the fourth quarter of
1839 in the Battle registration district.
Louisa was born in 1821 in Ashburnham and was the daughter of
William Anderson and Mary. She died in
1890 in Tonbridge, Kent.

Edmond Bourner was baptised on 29 February 1824 in
Crowhurst. The 1841 census recorded that he was 15 years old and
the eldest of his siblings living at home.

Horace Bourner was baptised on 4 September 1825 in
Crowhurst. He died aged 45 years and his death was registered in
the third quarter of 1870 in the Eastbourne registration district.
Horace married Lydia Sellons on 4 April 1850 in Catsfield,
Sussex.
Lydia was born about 1826 and was the daughter of John Sellons.

Charlotte Augusta Bourner was baptised on 30 March 1828
in Crowhurst. She was 13 years old in 1841 and living at home.
The death of Charlotte Agnasta Bourner was registered
in the fourth quarter of 1848 in the Battle registration district.

Chambers Bourner was baptised on 9 August 1829 in
Crowhurst. He was 10 years old in 1841. In 1851 he was 21
years old and the eldest of his siblings living at home.
Chambers married Fanny Ann Ellis on 16 August 1856 in
Wartling, Sussex.
Fanny Ann was born about 1827 and was the daughter of William
Ellis.

Chambers William Bourner was born about 1857.
He died on 28 June 1824 in Arlington, Sussex.

Jane Benedicta Bourner was born in January 1859 in
Wartling and baptised and buried there on 3 April 1859.

Mary Benedicta Bourner was born in 1861 in Wartling
and baptised there on 5 January 1862. She died on 17 January
1942.

Albert Louis Bourner was born in 1864 in Arlington.
He died on 14 February 1934.

Peter Bourner was baptised on 11 March 1866 in
Upper Dicker, Sussex.

Charlotte Augusta Bourner was baptised on 8
November 1868 at Bodle Street Green.

Louis Bourner was baptised on 31 July 1831 in Dallington.
He was 19 year old Lewes Bourner in 1851.

Dallington. In 1841 she was 6 years old. She was 17 years
old in 1851.

was 15 years old in 1851.

Emily Bourner was born about 1838 in Ashburnham. At
the time of the 1841 census she was 2 years old. She was 13 year
old Emmela Bourner in 1851.
