Thomas BOURNE
(1746-1801)

In the name of God Amen I
Thomas Bourne
of Brightling in the County of Sussex Farmer being sick and weak in body but
sound mind memory and understanding praised be god do make and publish this
my last Will and Testament in Manner following that is to say First I will
and direct that all my just Debts funeral expenses and the cost and charges
of proving and executing this my Will be fully paid and discharged and
subject thereto I give and dispose of my Temporal Estate as follows I give
and bequeath unto my beloved wife Ann Bourne and her assigns One
Annuity or clear yearly sum of fifty pounds per annum of lawful money of
Great Britain for and during the Term of her natural life free from all
Taxes and Charges whatsoever to be paid and payable by four equal quarterly
payments in the year out of all and singular my personal estate hereinafter
bequeathed the first payment to begin and be made in three months next after
my decease and subject to the payment thereof I give and bequeath all my
ready money securities for Money Household Goods Stock Cattle Husbandry
Cattle Goods Chattels and all and singular other my Estate and effects of
whatsoever nature or kind and wheresoever which I shall die possessed of or
entitled to or which shall be any ways due owing or belonging to me at the
time of my deceased unto and amongst my Sons and Daughter Thomas
Bourne John Bourne Henry Bourne and Sarah
wife of George Rollo equally to be divided between them share and
share alike Upon Condition nevertheless and I do hereby direct that my said
sons and son in law George Rollo do and shall when thereunto
requested by or on behalf of my said wife enter into and give unto my said
wife a good and legal joint and several Bond or obligation in a sufficient
Penalty at the expense of my said sons and son in law for the due and
regular payment and discharge to my said wife and here assigns of the said
annuity or clear yearly sum of fifty pounds per annum for her life as
aforesaid And my Will and meaning is and I do hereby expressly declare and
direct that all such sum and sums of money and other property which I have
or any time heretofore advanced or shall hereinafter advance to any or
either of my sons and daughter and which shall appear to be so advanced
either on their ? ? or other Security or by any memorandum or writing made
in a by my own hand in or upon an Both or paper ? shall be ? and taken to be
part of my personal estate and be ? unto the same and added thereto and be
equally shared and divided amongst and between my said Sons and Daughter
Thomas Bourne John Bourne Henry Bourne and
Sarah Rollo in order that each of them may have and take altogether and
this my Will and what I have advanced or shall advance to them respectively
in my life time in equal share with the rest and no more And I do hereby
nominated constitute and appoint my said son Henry Bourne and
William Grigson of Brightling aforesaid Yeoman joint Executors of this
my Will and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness
whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the fourth day of August in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and one Thos Bourne
Signed Sealed published and declared by the said Thomas Bourne the
Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who
have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses hereto at his request in his
presence and in the presence of each other Thos Peters Jas
Martin
The Will of Thomas Bourne late of Brightling within the
Archdeaconry of Lewes Farmer deceased was proved the fifth day of November
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and one before the
Reverend Thomas Pullen clerk surrogate and soforth upon the oaths
of Henry Bourne and William Grigson joint executors in the
said Will named to whom was commuted the Administration of the Goods &
they being first sworn well and faithfully to Administer the same and so
forth Sworn also that the Goods and Chattels and Credits do not amount in
value unto two Thousand pounds
