The Will of
Frances BOURNE
(c1685-1755)

In the Name of God Amen I
Frances Bourne
of the parish of Arlington in the County of Sussex widow do make this my
last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first I
commit my soul unto the hands of Allmighty God and my body to the Earth to
be decently buried at the descretion of my Executors hereafter named and as
to all my worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me after
payment of my just Debts and funeral Expenses I Give and Bequeath as
followeth --- I Give and Bequeath to my son John Bournes children the
sum of One Guinea each of good and lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid
them by my Executors hereafter named Item I Give and Bequeath to my loving
son Edward Bourne of the parish of Herstmonceux in the County of
Sussex wheelwright one join Chest marked with E.B. Item I Give and Bequeath
to my loving son Thomas Bourne of the parish of Hellingly in the
County aforesaid farmer one Feather bed and bedstead And all the furniture
thereto belonging Item all the rest and residue of my personal Estate
whatsoever and of what nature kind or quality soever I give and bequeath to
my two loving sons Edward Bourne and Thomas Bourne aforesaid
to be equally divided between them share and share alike And Lastly I do
hereby make and ordain constitute and appoint my said two sons Edward
Bourne and Thomas Bourne joint Executors of this my last will and
Testament hereby revoking and making void all former will or wills by me at
any time heretofore made And I do declare this only to be my last will and
testament In witness whereof I the said Testator Frances Bourne have
hereunto set my hand and seal this fifthy day of September One thousand
Seven hundred and forty seven The mark of Frances Bourne signed
sealed published and declared by the said Testator Frances Bourne for
her last will and Testament in the presence of use who have subscribed our
names as witness thereto John Walker ~ Thomas Bray
The will of Frances Bourne late of Arlington in the Archdeaconry of
Lewes widow deceased was proved the first day of February in the year of
our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and fifty five before the Reverend Mr.
Edward Lund Clerk Surrogate lawfully consitituted upon the oaths of
Edward Bourne and Thomas Bourne the Executors therein named
To who was committed the Administration of all and singular the Goods etc
of the Deceased they being first sworn well and faithfully to adminster
the same and so forth
