John BOURNE (1750-?)

and Sarah STANDEN (1751-1801)

 

John Bourne and Sarah Standen married on 11 February 1776 in Udimore, Sussex.  He was then of Brede and she of Udimore, Sussex.  As a widower John Bourne married Elizabeth Summners, widow, by licence on 3 August 1802 in Brede.  They were both of Brede.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

John Bourne was baptised on 20 January 1749/50 in Brede.  He was the son of John Bourne (1721-1793) and Elizabeth Glover (c1725-?).  There was also a John Bourne baptised on 18 January 1758 in Brede, the son of Thomas Bourne (c1730-?) and Hannah Woodgate (c1730-?).

Sarah Standen was baptised on 4 May 1751 in Brede.  She was the daughter of John Standen and Sarah Kemp.  She was buried on 28 September 1801 in Brede and the burial register records that she was Sarah wife of John Bourne.

Elizabeth's date and place of birth/baptism and previous marriage are unknown, to me.

 

John Bourne and Sarah Standen had 9 known children:

  1. Francis Bourne was baptised on 12 February 1777 in Brede.  He probably married twice, firstly to Mary Philcox and then Sarah Goble.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Mary Bourne was baptised on 19 July 1778 in Brede.

  3. Sarah Bourne was baptised on 21 November 1779 in Brede.

  4. Elizabeth Bourne was baptised on 21 February 1781 in Brede.

  5. Mary Bourne was baptised on 26 January 1783 in Brede.

  6. John Bourne was baptised on 5 December 1784 in Brede.  He first married Elizabeth Richardson in 1802 and then Ann Furner, widow in 1825.  (They have their own page.)

  7. Ann Bourne was baptised on 12 February 1786 in Brede.

  8. Richard Bourne was baptised on 15 July 1787 in Brede.

  9. Martha Bourne was baptised on 12 April 1789 in Brede. She may have married Francis Skinner by banns on 13 November 1811 in Brede.  They were both then of Brede.
