Richard BOUND (1667-1711)

and Sarah CHANNELL (1672-1736)

 

Richard Bound and Sarah Channell married on 29 March 1692 at St. Mary's in Petworth, Sussex.  Richard was then of Henfield, Sussex, whilst Sarah was of Petworth.

Richard Boundy was baptised on 23 February 1666/7 in Henfield.  He was the son of John Boundee (1629-1674) and Mary Bettesworth (c1630-?).  He was buried on 2 October 1711 in Henfield and his surname was recorded in the burial register as Boundy.

Sarah Chanell was baptised on 21 July 1672 in Petworth.  She was the daughter of Henry Chanel (1645-1728).

 

 Richard Bound and Sarah Channell had 8 known children:

  1. Thomas Bound was baptised on 27 September 1694 in Henfield.

  2. Mary Bound was baptised on 7 November 1696 in Henfield.

  3. Richard Bound was baptised on 24 June 1699 in Henfield.  He married Eliza Cook in 1722.  (They have their own page.)

  4. John Boundy was baptised on 15 May 1701 in Henfield.

  5. Henry Boundy was baptised on 22 September 1702 in Henfield.

  6. John Bound was baptised on 8 February 1705/6 in Henfield.

  7. William Boundy was born on 4 September 1707 and baptised on 24 September 1727 in Henfield.  He was buried in Henfield on 31 July 1773.  He was a farmer.  On 15 September 1758 he took on John Barnett as an apprentice.

    William married Ann Palmer on 26 February 1733/4 in Henfield.

    Ann was buried on 15 May 1785 in Henfield.

    William and Ann had 9 known children:

    1. William Boundy was born on 17 October 1738 and baptised on 1 November 1783 in Henfield.  He was buried there on 5 January 1738/9.

    2. Ann Boundy was born on 16 November 1739 and baptised on 30 November 1739 in Henfield.  She was buried there on 7 May 1790.

      Ann married George Vinall on 5 November 1765 in Henfield.  Ann was then a spinster and George a bachelor.  The witnesses to their marriage were William Bound and William Vinall.

      George was born on 31 October 1736 and baptised on 19 November 1736 in Henfield.  He was buried in Henfield on 19 March 1817.

    3. John Boundy was mentioned in his father and mother's wills.

      John married Elizabeth Morgan by licence on 14 January 1760 in Henfield.  He was a bachelor and she a maiden.  The witnesses to their marriage were Richard Bound and Mary Vinall.

      Elizabeth was buried on 25 January 1763 in Henfield.

      John and Elizabeth had the following children:

      1. William Bound was born on 18 October 1760 and baptised on 31 October in Henfield.  He was buried there on 24 March 1761.

      2. Ann Bound was baptised on 9 November 1766 in Henfield and buried there on 6 January 1770.

      3. Mary Bound was baptised on 22 July 1769 in Henfield and buried there on 13 August 1769.

      4. Elizabeth Bound was baptised on 8 March 1771 in Henfield.  She died aged 74 years and was buried there on 25 May 1839.

        Elizabeth married James Lish by banns on 10 October 1790 in Henfield.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster.  The witnesses to their marriage were Daniel Weller and William Vinall.

      5. William Bound was baptised on 18 December 1774 in Henfield.  On 4 December 1799 he was the subject of a settlement examination.  He was then a servant living in Shermanbury and born in Henfield.

      6. Mary Bound was baptised on 24 August 1777 in Henfield and buried there on 29 September 1777.

    4. Sarah Bound married Thomas Morley by banns on 21 October 1762 in Henfield.  He was then a bachelor of Steyning and she a spinster.  The witnesses to their marriage were John Allfrey and William Vinall.  Sarah was mentioned in her mother's will as the wife of Thomas Morley.

      Thomas died before 1785.

    5. Mary Boundy was born on 28 March 1746 and baptised on 2 April 1746 in Henfield.  She died aged 78 years and was buried on 26 November 1821 in Chailey, Sussex.  She was mentioned in her father and mother's wills.

      As Mary Bound she married Matthew Friend by licence on 1 June 1773 in Henfield.  He was then a bachelor of Chailey and a spinster.  The witnesses to their marriage were Richard Woolvin and William Vinall.

      Matthew was baptised on 22 June 1748 in Chailey.  He was buried on 29 December 1822 in Chailey.

    6. William Boundy was born on 11 May 1747 and baptised and buried on 13 May 1747 in Henfield.

    7. Jane Boundy was born and baptised on 2 January 1747/8 in Henfield and buried there on 16 March 1747/8.

    8. William Boundy was born and baptised on 2 January 1747/8 in Henfield and buried there on 4 January 1747/8.

    9. Jane Boundy was born on 27 July 1749 and baptised on 13 August 1749 in Henfield.  She was mentioned in her mother's will.  Before her marriage she had an illegitimate daughter:

      1. Barbara Bound was baptised privately on 12 April 1772 in Henfield as she was in peril of death.  She was received into the church on 13 April.

      Jane married Charles Peacock by banns on 1 December 1772 in Henfield.  She was then a spinster of Henfield and he was a sojourner.  The witnesses to their marriage were Michael Martin and William Vinall.

  8. Sarah Bound was born on 7 September 1709 and baptised on 5 October 1709 in Henfield.  She was buried there on 9 February 1727/8 and the burial register then recorded her surname as Boundy.
