John BOUNDEE (1629-1674)

and Mary BETTESWORTH (c1630-?)

 

John Boundee and Mary Bettesworth married in 1654.  The banns were published in Henfield on 4, 11 and 18 June 1654.  John was then a carpenter of Henfield and Mary was a spinster of Lurgashall, Sussex.  The parish registers of Cowfold, Sussex, records that a William Boundy, junior and Mary Betsworth were married there on 19 June 1654.

John Boundy was baptised on 1 January 1628/9 in Henfield, Sussex.  He was the son of William Boundy (1599-1669) and Anne Martin (?-1695).  John was buried in Henfield on 27 November 1674.

Mary Bettesworth's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Might she have been the daughter of Robert Betsworth and Alice Averie who married on 15 January 1621/2 in Lurgashall?

 

 John Boundee and Mary Bettesworth had 7 known children:

  1. Richard Boundy was baptised on 23 February 1666/7 in Henfield.  He married Sarah Channell in 1692.  (They have their own page.)

  2. John Boundee was born on 17 March 1654/5 and baptised on 24 March 1654/5 in Henfield.

    John married Elizabeth Wolgar on 11 April 1678 in Henfield.

    Elizabeth was born on 29 September 1654 and baptised on 9 October 1654 in Henfield.  She was the daughter of Stephen Woolgar (1624-?) and Elizabeth.

  3. Anne Boundee was born on 18 October 1656 and baptised on 21 October 1656 in Henfield.  She was buried there on 2 July 1658.  The burial register recorded her surname as Bounde.

  4. Mary Boundie was baptised on 12 November 1659 in Henfield.

    As Mary Boundy she married John Vennell on 18 July 1682 in Henfield.

  5. Henry Boundy was baptised on 3 December 1668 in Henfield.

  6. Jane Bounde was baptised on 1 November 1670 in Henfield.

  7. Edward Boundee was baptised on 6 June 1672 in Henfield.
