John BOTTING (1702-1786)

and Mary HOLLAND (?-1779)

 

John Botting and Mary Holland married on 17 July 1726 in Wisborough Green, Sussex.

John Botting was baptised on 21 March 1701/2 in Shipley, Sussex.  He was the son of William Botting (1667-?) and Sarah Jupp.  He died on 15 June 1786.  John left a will dated 11 May 1784 and proved on 3 September 1786.

Mary Holland's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was buried on 29 April 1779 in West Grinstead.

 

John Botting and Mary Holland had 7 known children:

  1. Edward Botting was baptised on 2 September 1729 in West Grinstead.  He married Sarah Grinstead in 1754.  (They have their own page.)

  2. John Botting was baptised on 26 May 1731 in West Grinstead and buried there on 29 May 1731.  He was a twin.

  3. William Botting was baptised on 26 May 1731 in West Grinstead and buried there on 29 May 1731.  He was a twin.

  4. Mary Botting was baptised on 10 April 1732 in West Grinstead and buried there on 26 April 1732.  She was a twin.

  5. Elizabeth Botting was baptised on 10 April 1732 in West Grinstead and buried there on 26 April 1732.  She was a twin.

  6. Sarah Botting was baptised on 28 March 1733 in West Grinstead.

    Sarah married John Herryett by licence on 12 May 1757 in Shipley, Sussex.  Their marriage licence was issued on 11 May 1757 by the Archdeaconry of Chichester, which recorded that Sarah was a spinster and John a bachelor and farmer, and they were both of Shipley.

    As John Herriot he was mentioned in his father-in-law's will, at which time John was a farmer of Shipley.  He was left a legacy of 250 by his father-in-law.

  7. John Botting was mentioned in his father's will, by which he inherited his father's household goods, live stock, cattle, horses, sheep, corn grass and hay, and a leasehold messuage, house, garden and tenement called Brick-kiln in Shipley.

    John married Mary Lanaway on 7 November 1754 in Shipley.

    Mary was baptised on 9 February 1729/30 in West Grinstead and was the daughter of John Lanaway and Sarah Adams.

    John and Mary had the following children:

    1. William Botting was baptised on 22 June 1755 in Shipley.

    2. Mary Botting was baptised on 25 July 1756 in Shipley.  She was mentioned in her grandfather's will.

    3. John Botting was baptised on 11 December 1757 in Shipley.  He was mentioned in his grandfather's will.

    4. Henry Botting was baptised o 15 July 1759 in Shipley.  He was mentioned in his grandfather's will.

    5. Elizabeth Botting was mentioned in her grandfather's will.

    6. Sarah Botting was baptised on 30 November 1760 in Shipley.  She was mentioned in her grandfather's will.

    7. Ann Botting was baptised on 6 June 1762 in Shipley.

    8. Jane Botting was baptised on 19 November 1763 in Shipley.

    9. Frances Botting was baptised on 29 April 1770 in Shipley.
